There's plenty of good bad guys in the Star Wars movies, but Darth Maul (spelling?) was a bad ass.

Daniel Day Lewis' character in "There Will Be Blood"

One of the best movie characters of all time. Unpredictable, scary, intimidating, ruthless and captivating! Left my jaw dropped on several occassions.

Matt Damon in Mr Ripley was good too... I like the bad guys that get you rooting for them in a sense...

Hannibal and Ripley

For different reasons, either Jack Nicholson as the Joker, Gordon Gecko from Wall Street, or Goldfinger.

I have a memory as a chiild of a "hit man" type bad guy in a movie. In one scene, he beat info out of a farmer, then he threw him in the blades of a combine, and watched him chewed up. The bad guy was a black guy, who I see on as a cop on TV a lot, but that's all I remember. I can't get that memory out of my head, of arms and legs flopping around as they were cut off. That's still at the top of my list on how I don't wanna go.

I have two that come to mind.

Jean Reno as Leon in the Professional. He's a professional assassin taking care of a 12 year old girl who's parents die.

Then Kevin Spacey in Seven. Nothing to like about the character, but that was a great character and he played it well.

John Lithgow in Cliffhanger.

Gene Simmons (Kiss) was a nasty character in a movie I can't remember the name of.

Dezel Washington in Training Day- He was absolutely evil - "King Kong ain't got nothin on me." :jawdrop:
Man, the good guys feared him and the bad guys feared him and hated him. It w as so different a charactor for him to play, it made it that much more effective.

a couple of others:

Sid 6.7 (Russell Crowe) from Virtuosity:

SID 6.7: Just because I'm carrying the joy of killing your family inside me doesn't mean we can't be friends.

SID 6.7: Hey buddy! How's the wife and kid? Still dead, huh?

SID 6.7: I'm a fifty terrabyte, self-evolving, neural network, double backflip off the high platform. I'm not a swan dive.

Edgar/Bug (Vincent D'Onofrio) from Men in Black:
"Ever pull the wing off a fly? Care to see the fly get even?"
