A highly talented underachiever? Seems the same.
Lenzy isn't complaining about receiver play though. That's the only way your analogy would make sense. He's complaining about either play calling and/or QB play. Hence, your analogy is wrong.

But for this game, it doesn’t matter. They scored 42 in the first quarter just running the ball. Enjoy the win.

After the NIU debacle, I’m absolutely enjoying the win. The running game and defense was outstanding. It’s fair to enjoy a win, but also be critical about some aspects of the game. I don’t think asking to see some life in the intermediate-down field passing game is asking for too much.

Lenzy’s college football talent has nothing to do with his opinion of the passing game

Jaden thomas with 3 carries in career for 12 yards.
Keep them coming.
I'd prefer not to have our slowest WR running end arounds. That was painful to watch. Why not have Raridon or Flanagan run a couple while we're at it.

tbh there are quite a few schemes that employ a TE reverse. It’s a staple in the wing-T as a counter and can be super effective.

Playing devils advocated here. Love and Price probably don't see their explosive plays happen if it wasn't for RL.
Eh, maybe. A running QB and a QB that can make plays downfield both do a good job of freeing up the running game.

We're relying on a running QB to keep LB's and S's from keying on the RB's. A good QB can do that with play action.

Would love to see it with Evans/Raridon (even Larsen in the near future).

To the point about Thomas, it seemed like he was awfully deep in the backfield when he received the ball. I wonder if that was the play design, and if so, what the benefit of running a guy that far behind is on a reverse. The blockers were way ahead of him on that play which made him seem slower than I think he really is.

I was being facecious. If we are going to get athletes in space, there's about 8 guys I'd rather have doing that than Thomas.

I get that, but my counterpoint was that a TE reverse (especially if you have a great athlete at the position) can be a really effective play. Generally you can run it with some sort of fake jet or fake sweep motion and pull a C/G back the other way to lead block.

I agree going foward. I just look at this game as the team needed to make a statement. The only way to do that was to rely on what they can actually do.

It’s interesting every team wanted him this off-season and ND took a safety and never looked at him. I guess you can’t unring the bell of how bad he was against ND.

According to the II guys, it wasn’t that he wasn’t good but that they had him playing too deep to the point that they may as well have only 10 guys on defense.

He was definitely misused but he also had his jock taken on missed tackles at least 5 times

I wonder if they just couldn't get him through admissions. He was a non-grad transfer who was more than 1 year out of HS and wasn't coming for an elite institution (NW, Duke, etc.). I know they got Hughes from USC through admissions, but that was probably an exception and not the rule.
