It’s not MF’s IQ that worries me. It’s the fact that he lacks conviction in his decisions and strategies. What the hell is that analytics guy in his ear? Is that just because he had that weird analytics podcast mishap? And then he has two extremely physical practices this week because Jim Tressell calls him and tells him to.

The head coach can’t be so easily influenced. Has to have an approach he believes in.

He believes in Tressel, so he listens to him. He has since day 1. Attaching a big brain to your hip seems like a more efficient way to get the what the numbers say. Better than a chart or more radio traffic, imo.

I want to know how he uses the information. Does he make the decision to go with the numbers before or after he asks? Before the drive? Before the game?

Kurt Hinish was a very good college player and is playing meaningful snaps in the NFL. That's a really dumb one.

Throwing the ball on 2nd and 1 from the 50 with the lead and 6 minutes left was akin to Brian Kelly throwing the ball in the Tulsa loss. Run the ball and pick up a first down and you are essentially 1 first down from icing the game if youre able to run the ball and throw short high percentage passes. Get under center, pound the ball and if you want to take a shot, run a play action roll out or something with some crossers.
Leonard stinks, but I put this game on Denbrock moreso than Freeman although ultimately I guess Freeman has the last word.

I don’t believe we’ve ran a single play from under center this year. It’s inexplicable and honestly hurting us because we haven’t been very creative running the ball either.

Kurt Hinish played in 2 playoff games and is playing a bunch in the NFL might want to take it easy on that one

The problem is if he goes 10-2 and wins a decent sized bowl game the floor is too high. How can you replace him with Matt Campbell? You risk going 10-2 again next season if there are some growing pains (which there will be) and looking like a fool.

Also you're going to have to clean house if you fire him. Are they really willing to eat Denbrock's whole contract?

I don't think the replacement would be Matt Campbell. And I don't think it would happen this year unless the season gets into Chuck Weis 2009 territory. I think the most likely outcome is a 9-3 season and Freeman on the hot seat entering 2025.

I was just using Campbell as a generic choice. Any of the names thrown around Campbell, Rhule, Fickell, none of those types are walking in and going undefeated in year 1.

It’s not going to get any better. He isn’t good enough and he doesn’t have the right mindset to be a head coach. The long ND keeps him the more the program will suffer.

His press conference showed us this. And it’s clear he isn’t learning on the job because after Marshall happened this wouldn’t happen again.
