Training camps are live across the league. Actual practice reports are available. Players are holding out in hopes for new contracts, and rookies are diving in.

It's almost here. The HOF game between da Bears and the Texans is one week from Thursday.

LSU grad shocker

1 week down, only 6 weeks to go.

I get that tempers often flare in training camp; its very hot, competition is fierce during practice, etc. but to see things boiling over this early is a tad off.

I'm pretty shocked by this, but good for him for getting it. Making him the highest paid QB ever after only one season is a pretty big step.

Utterly amazing how teams will shell out the money on a still somewhat unproven QB. He had a pretty good season last year, but betting the farm this soon? Wait one more year so you have a better idea.

Grandson was up from Florida and went to opening day at the Colts camp. I told him he only had one job and that was to get Q's autograph. Came home with a football with a number of autographs minus Q's. lol

All due respect, "pretty good" is a bit of an understatement. He was, statistically speaking, the best QB in football over their last 8 games, leading the youngest team in football to a 6-2 record, leading the league in TDs over that period, 18:1 TD/INT ratio, and completion percentage, etc. In the playoffs, he led said young team to a total dismantling of the Cowboys, on the road in Dallas, in the Wild Card round. He finished #2 in the league in TDs, second only to Dak. They had seen enough. They did the same exact thing with Rodgers in 2009 when they were just 4-3 and he was putting up middle of the road numbers.

You don't do what Love did (literally every impact WR and TE are still on rookie contracts) by chance. It's so hard to identify franchise QBs in the NFL, and it's arguably the most important success factor in all of sports, identifying your guy under center. They paid him for his potential, which he has loads of. They're only going to grow based on how young they are.

I don't criticize the Packers at all for extending him so early; I do criticize them for waiting all offseason though, as it cost them more millions after seeing the Trevor Lawrence and Tua contracts get finalized, as well as valuable practice time last week as he was holding out of the physical portions of camp.

I get where you're coming from. I'm just of the opinion that one season doesn't warrant unloading the Brinks truck, regardless of the position. NFL history is littered with QB's that had one very good season only to bomb after. You're right though, the NFL pays on potential.

I guess you’re expecting Rodgers to get hurt again? It’s a very JETS thing but I just struggle to see Buffalo maintaining the top spot considering all they’ve lost in talent and not having too much replacing the guys.

As a jaded Dolphins fan, I’m thinking subtraction might be addition for the Bills. I can see Allen going off.

It’s been a LONG time since the ‘Phins won the East. 2008 Chad Pennington pulled one out of his ass.

The Bills been smacking around the Miami for as long as I can remember

Oh I think Allen will still be top 3 but his help is so little compared to the other guys. I'm kind of a doubter with you w/r/t the Dolphins, I think they finish 2nd unless they get off to a crazy lead. I just think the Jets will be great provided Rodgers is healthy, albeit there's no chance they will win the Super Bowl.

How I think the season plays out:

Jets
Dolphins
Bills
Pats

and I still think the Pats will be very frisky by the end of the season. Bills could even make the wild card at 3rd in the Division

Will be interesting in the AFC East this year, especially if Rogers is in form.

Could be wrong (often am) but I just don’t see Rodgers jumping back into MVP form.

I worry most about our coach. He can absolutely throw points on the board for sure. But, when push comes to shove, we’ve folded. Think we were 0-fer vs winning teams last year. We must turn that page

If I had the ability to predict injuries, I'd be in a higher tax bracket and not fucking around out here on this board every day. I don't know much, but I do know that.

It may not be popular right now, but I'm with you in thinking that Seattle ends up 4th in the NFC West. Arizona was pretty dang good on offense when Kyler came back and they won't be worse with more investment on the OL and Marvin Harrison Jr. Trey McBride makes Pro Bowl at TE, I'm thinking.

As for the North, I've made my case before that the Pack retake it. I think you're right that Minny ends up last; just can't see Darnold being a solution for them.

RE: the South. I'd wager on Atlanta winning the division, because my thinking is they upgrade significantly at QB and Tampa takes a step back after losing Canales. Dave Canales moving over to Carolina is also why I think the Panthers end up likely 3rd in that division with the Saints being just incredibly unwatchable outside of rare moments from Olave. Carr just does not have it any more and that whole roster is pretty devoid of talent. The OL could be a hot mess and Carr can do nothing without good protection.

I love what Seattle has done to support Geno, they have arguably the best WR Trio in the sport with Metcalf, Lockett and JSN. Plus I love Kenny Walker at RB. I think they sneak in but it will likely come down to them vs. LAR for one of those two WC spots. Arizona will finish last in that division again, I think.

I just don't see it for Buffalo. They honestly did a horrible job of replacing their skill talent and supporting Josh Allen, who is on a HOF career trajectory. Look at guys like Aaron Rodgers who succeeded early in his career with weapons all around him, but then they ignored WR and he started faltering in the postseason. Josh Allen can't do it on his own.

I heard post-Hall of Fame Game that many people in the NFL expect starting field position to be at least the 30. That preseason game had an average starting drive on the 26 but those field conditions were terrible, guys slipping and sliding everywhere

Jets are winning 13 games with that defense, o-line, and running game.
Rodgers just needs to game manage and win the occasional shootout.
