I just posted a 'quick reply"...and have others in the recent past. Why don't they show up?

Make the offer. With 20 additional pounds, he will either play fullback or middle linebacker. Has a good GPA. If the desire to play for ND is there, I say we take him...and soon!

They already did this past Monday.

Why don't you just click the "reply to post" button? I don't think I've ever used the quick reply feature.

Will really enjoyed his visit to Nebraska and is insure whether or not he will take another official visit. He also said he is insure about playing FB in college. That isn't what I wanted to hear.

Sorry, I am an idiot. Of course it means fullback. I had a momentary loss of brain function. That was an error you would only expect from a new poster with less than 70 posts. woops, thats me!

Thanks

My buddy who is a Neb fan said that Nebraska rivals is reporting he will cancel his visit to ND. I don't know anything about Nebraska rivals so I can't confirm the posters credibility.

Would you want to play fullback especially for a team that had a million times to offer you as a LB, but didn't offer you until January as a fullback? What's fun about playing fullback? Nothing. What's your future playing fullback? You'd probably have a better shot getting to the NFL as a kicker. Linebacker is more fun, theres more of a future and it's to a team that is recruiting you the hardest that you were formally committed to.

Not that you are wrong- you are probably right, IK, but it can be done at fullback- My example in another thread is from last year at Boise State. We had a slightly undersized MLB, Corey Hall, who started his last 3 full years, 3-time all conf., 2006 WAC Def player of the year (when they went to the Fiesta and beat Oklahoma). After all of the tryouts and combines, Hall was drafted at Fullback by Green Bay. He started most of the year, (got hurt late), and is starting in the playoffs.

Imagine if he would have played for ND with more publicity, better competition, ...

I'm just saying..... :smilewink

We should have offered him as an ILB. This is the thinnest position on the team. We could use another athletic player. If Crum gets hurt this season, we are deep trouble with really no experienced back ups at all. We need to build some depth at ILB.

Toryan Smith, Steve Paskirz, Scott Smith, Aaron Nagel, although more suited for OLB, Steve Quinn, am I missing anybody?

OCIrish,
Of all the guys you just named, tell me who played much at all in 2007?? Toryan actually saw his time deminish as the year went on. Scott Smith plays special teams and a played about 2 minutes at ILB. Paskorz could be good, but unknow since he redshirted. Nagel will shock me if he ever plays anything other than special teams. At the All-American game he looked small and timid as a senior in high school. This leaves us to depend on incoming freshmen to make an impact. We need to develop 4 solid ILB's. The starters need back-ups that can play. We will start Crum in 2008, but who will be starting opposite him??? Toryan, Scott?? I don't think even Charlie has a clue on this one. One more ILB would not hurt at all.

I agree, ILB is very much a question mark. I say start Brain Smith at ILB where he played in high school and start Richardson at OLB. Hopefully after a while Paskorz can take over at ILB and Smith can move back to OLB.

I see your point, but it doesn't make that much sense to me, I don't mean to be offensive. From what I can tell you're saying that the LB position is thin because of the lack of experience across the board, meaning its a young team and a young position. Honestly, bringing in another true freshmen LB won't help the position gain any experience. Just adding an ILB to have extra depth isn't really bolstering the LB corps. Additionally, I doubt Compton would be able to come in and play right away, I think he would probably need to take a year and bulk up a little, much like Nagel. I think Weis is trying to avoid getting overloaded at a position for one year.

I think if he was serious about considering fullback he'd visit here once more before making the biggest choice of his life so far. I don't care how many times you've been here....If you're going to announce and you gotta free official visit to ND and you cancel it before you announce......It's Mizzou or Nebraska.
