I definitely agree here. Love seems more suited to bounce it outside and is a home run threat. Kinda like Bush at USC
Price is also a home run threat. His balance and burst are next level and he runs with a low pad level and can make ya miss. If his achilles holds up he will be 1a to Loves 1b by mid year if it doesnt start that way.

One of my biggest hopes this spring is that Price locks down the #1 spot. I know that Love is also very good, but I want Price to be “the guy”.
Just curious, why? I think they’ll split time and carries evenly

You have to remember, RL can run the ball very well, too, but he doesn’t have that break away speed like Love does. Love may be the better fit in Denbrock’s system.

I hope the talent and depth at RB pushes and makes everyone better. But I prefer we roll with a top 2 and not have a tiny role for every single rb just to get them on the field … what we did with Payne to me was terrible last year. It didn’t work and it kept more talented players off the field at times. A few play he did NOT make could have been the difference and possible got us one more win. A few plays vs osu and Clemson stand out that a more talented back probably makes

At the end of the day I think it's going to be a 1-2 punch between those two and a third back that will get a few regular carries. They will ride the hot hand but when push comes to shove Price will be #1. The reason will be because of the short shelf life and PR to keep churning out NFL RB prospects its good for the player as it is for the program.

I think Price is a natural/more traditional back. Love is more dynamic. Both are great backs and their skill sets are complementary.
Price reminds me of a mix between Dexter Williams and a 5 star RB we had ~2007 who had a knee injury and never really took off. I can't think of his name but Price reminds me of a perfect mix of both.

Just hope Payne isn’t 3rd down back, puts less pressure on the D

I don’t agree with this at all. Payne was super effective in this type of role last year. Decent power between the tackles and catches the ball pretty well out of the backfield.

The one thing that pissed me off about Payne last year were there was several times he came up short of a first down on 3rd down because he lowered his shoulder and/or went looking for contact in a situation where he was well short and needed to try snd make someone miss or find open space. Almost like he just lacked down and distance awareness or thought he was just going to truck stick his way right over someone and keep going. He does run hard though and I like that.

He was terrible in pass pro, and came up short in the big games on some key 3rd downs

Because it was well reported that true freshman, pre achilles tear JD Price was the best RB on a depth chart than included Estime and Diggs. I want to see what that level of running back looks like.

1A and 1B, not saying which is which.
Completely agree. They will ride the hot hand when one is better on said day but all I was getting at in a previous post is that when possible they will go with Price to showcase him to help his stock and give the program another win to make RB recruiting easier.

Yeah, I mean, if you really believe that and all. I’m excited for Price and think he’ll do great things, but I don’t rally put too much stock in those reports. Price was not better than Estime. Not at that time at least. You can’t and won’t convince me otherwise.

Why? I love Estime but he did next to nothing as a RB as a freshman so the RB postion was completely open. There is no reason not to believe the reports Price was RB1. Best guess if he didn't get injured we would've seen something like the RB duo similar to what we saw with Estime-Diggs. So a Price-Estime duo with Diggs as the 3rd RB.

Price may end up being better but I think Love is. Out of the two he has the heisman potential. If he develops and stays healthy he's set to be Darren Mcfadden.
Love may be mcfadden
But Price is my Ladanian Tomlinson

Since I watched the Ohio St game

Don't conflate KR for RB

And also don't suffer from recency bias

You can put me down for Team Love
