I haven't had a chance to watch his film, but I've heard mixed things. Is he worthy of a scholarship or is this a legacy scholarship like Jake Golic?

A&M, Oregon, Arkansas, Missou, and NC State would indicate otherwise. He's a P5 guy. For the pedigree/legacy, he has to be take.

Landing him, and 2 of the 4 of Talyn Taylor, Derek Meadows, Taz Williams, and Cooper Perry would be a slam dunk class IMO.

Correct. Jake Golic's only other offer was from in state UConn if I recall correctly. Mike Jr. as well.

Ryan and Bryan on IB podcast talked about him recently and basically said they need to see improvements in his game this fall. they didn't say he is a bad player but just need to see improvements.

I’d be fine if he somehow didn’t end up being the top guy in the class. From all accounts, not to mention with what Stuckey has done so far, I’m fairly confident in believing that the 2025 class will be great WR haul.

As long as he has heart for the game, snag him up. I don’t want to see a Bettis in anything other than Blue and Gold. Not in my lifetime.
Couldn’t agree more. You take him. Dude belongs at nd

He’s one of 3 or 4 at the position. Take him. It shouldn’t define the position group one way or another

it would be a black eye to football alumni to not bring him in. I think that is what ND needs to embrace, and they got away from it for a while. JB has been nothing but a fantastic ambassador to the school. If he has the grades to be accepted, then he should be. It's worth the scholarship, given all the transfers anyways.

maybe already talked about but just saw on instagram this afternoon where his dad posted a pic of his sister who is coming to ND as he posted how proud he was of her to work so hard to get into ND.

Some solid junior highlights so far. Nothing earth shattering, but he has shown good growth between his sophomore and junior seasons. I would be fine with him as a take if he’s the 3rd or 4th WR in the ‘25 class.

Looks like a good big strong possession receiver in high school… that doesn’t typically translate to making an impact at good power 5 schools

I would take him and maybe as as an athlete. I liked his Free safety film.

I know these are only highlights but he seems to have great hands, always catching the ball away from his body and often in traffic. Most of the offense plays he was being bracketed and/or double covered and you never got to see him get up to full speed so not sure what that looks like.

Wouldn’t jump to take him as of now, but if we have space late I absolutely would as a WR4 or Athlete. We never seem to hit 85, and if it turns out he can’t get playing time here, he’ll just be “processed” with his degree after 3 years. Can’t make exceptions every year but considering what the portal is like nowadays and the WR position, I think it’s worth taking him if we think we have a final scholarship to give late this cycle.

No way any ND staff would “process” Jerome Bettis’ son. If he commits he’s here 4 years or until he decides to leave.

The issue is offering him a scholly, he’s Nate Montana caliber at WR
I was responding to a comment that suggested ND take him now and process him in a few years if he doesn’t pan out. The fact is that he’s been offered and is 99.9% going to be in this class, on scholarship. At no time will ND process him out of the class. It just ain’t gonna happen. Period.

I don’t think Bettis is great but this just is simply incorrect. Bettis is a P5 WR. Probably not playoff caliber but his pedigree makes it worth to take a flyer on (and you don’t have to agree, but this is what they are doing). Bettis has other P5 offers so it’s not like ND is alone on an island. Nate Montana didn’t have a single FBS offer out of high school. The two aren’t really comparable. If they were just trying to appease former ND legends, both the Pritchett kids would be at ND.

Edit: Bettis since January has added Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Duke, Cal, and Purdue offers. Again, I’m not saying these are necessarily programs that ND should be striving to be like, but the hardline stance you’re taking discounting him as a Nate Montana is contrary to what other major programs see.

Those offers are only due to name .. have you watched his film? He’d have more offers with less film lol

Bettis is my second favorite nd player all time but his son ain’t it
