Texas beat bama worse than Michigan. Michigan hasn't played an offense like uw and Michigans offense is suspect at best.

Did you watch the game?
One lost fumble? Any other mistake didn’t hurt them. I was also speaking in regards to whole season. Michigan probably ends up with same record or worse with Notre Dame’s schedule. Stars aligned for Michigan that Alabama played a terrible game and not like they did against Georgia.

Our hope is Washingon comes out on fire like they did against Texas and that Washington can knock Michigan’s offense off schedule.

The Husky D is quite bad...their OL did not impress me last night and they cannot run the ball. Penix and those receivers are legit. Their only hope to avoid a bloodbath is for them to just go off.

scUM is better than Texas and UW needed Penix to go for 400+ and be nearly perfect and still barely won.
I mean, that’s a way to look at it I guess.

You could also say that Washington controlled most of the game and was clearly the better team. If it wasn’t for a muffed punt and a fluke injury there would be nothing barely about it.

Texas also had one of the best interior DLs in the country not easy to run on regardless of the team.
Texas is a better rush defense than Michigan in terms of yards per game. Not to mention that Texas held Bama to 107 yards rushing and Bama had 172 yesterday versus Michigan. For the record, UW had 102 versus Texas, just shy of what Bama did.

Michigan had four special teams errors (fumbled punt, missed FG, botched snap on extra point and muffed punt inside their own five yard line) that nearly cost them the game. They were fortunate to play a team that was truly one dimensional offensively.

He should have had a speech to keep his team from quiting and opting out
Yea, powerful message that ultimately, it would seem, fell on deaf ears.

They had a chance to show the world that they deserved that spot in the playoffs and beat the two time defending national champs. And they did walk away. They did say no. They did not accept the challenge.

If the speech was after the Georgia loss, the opt outs and everything else had already take place though. This was his message to the kids who stayed and played for their team and their university.

I thought it was evident that this speech was given to the team AFTER they had played UGA, but I continue to overestimate life in general.

I don't think a speech to all the guys who left was necessary. What the hell do you say? He took the players he had and coached them against UGA. Rather simple. In the end, everyone is going to go their own way in life. You let people marinate in their own juices and press on. Control whatever you are able to directly because anything outside of that isn't up to you anyway.

Next season it isn't an issue. We can assume that a 14-0 ACC Champion will get into the Top 12. Again, I tend to overestimate things, though. Stay tuned.

I'm aware of when the speech was given. But, he congratulates them for the season that everyone will remember. So, he is still speaking to guys that did not "stand and fight".

The team that took the field against Louisville put their heads down and walked away from the challenge.

The 13-0 FSU that get left out of the playoff had a chance to prove they belonged. And, that team quit. Quit on their coach, their teammates, and their fans.

He was speaking to the players who were in that room. They were part of that season, entirely, and deserved to hear those words. Even if the chooches who started and got the accolades were not there.

The twos, threes, scout teamers, freshmen, the walk ons who played against UGA were part of it and they stayed. He was speaking to them and them alone.

And he's right about one thing, a message that has been the opposite of what so many of us have heard our entire lives: hard work doesn't guarantee you shit. It gives you a chance and puts you in better position to succeed, but the idea that working hard just makes everything sunshine and rainbows is not, has not and never will be truth. Therein lies the lesson. Keep going.

Dillon Johnson's injury is a big concern for me. Just checked and he's expected to play. As much as Penix and the receivers deserve all the praise Washington gave up yards on the ground against Texas so I'll look for Corum and Edwards to have a game. Rome Odunze vs Will Johnson and Polk vs Sainristill is the matchup to look for. Washington's OL is going to have to hold up against the Michigan DL because the receivers are going to be tested. Washington is healthy in the backend finally but Michigan doesn't exactly air it out, which kind of negates Muhammad and Trice. Don't ban me but I would assume Michigan runs the ball, Corum has a big day (Gets MVP) and Michigan gets the win.

It's a powerful speech, I said as much before, in a different setting.

I assume he spoke to his entire team in a different setting on December 2nd. Whatever those words were, these 23 dudes decided it wasn't worth going to Miami to play UGA. I don't know what those words were or what that setting was like, but based on that video, he said the exact right thing at the exact right time to the guys who played in that game. Period. They're getting ACC Championship rings and played until the end. I don't assume he was speaking to anybody that wasn't there at the time after the UGA game.

Once the setting changed and everyone who opted out was gone, they progressed for the next month with whatever was left. Once it was done, those guys got that talk in that room.

The post game speech was powerful and was what it was supposed to be in that moment. If we're inclined to think whatever he said prior that wasn't powerful enough, that's fair, but I'm incredibly curious to know what could have been said that would have legitimately made all those guys decide to stick around and play.

Really fuckin weird take on a coach who went to battle with the guys who stuck around to battle with him basically letting his guys know he is proud and grateful for them and the decision they made and that even though theyre hurting that high character and showing up is always going to give them the beat opportunity for success in life.

Sports can teach some of life's greatest lessons. Kudos to Mike Norvell for pouring into his players and making a teachable moment that could impact their lives for the better out of what I am sure is a painful and humiliating time for these young men. The world can be hard, especially at 20 yrs old. Whats done is done, but If this message helps even 1 young person in that room in their life….my hats off to you Mike Norvell.

F$U had the right to be in the current CFB Playoffs based upon the guidelines and past history...but, post injury, were not one of the 4 best teams in the country or even close to it.

Again powerful speech. I will say that for the 3rd time. A powerful speech given to a football that quit on him. Both things can be true.

They lost 63-3 in what was one of the more embarrassing performances in a NY6 game that I can remember. It was disgrace to college football and proves everything wrong with the sport.

I'm just disgusted by the fact that 20+ guys decided that their school and teammates weren't important enough to show up for. These aren't all high draft picks protecting themselves, this was just no-character quitting on your brothers.

But both things are not true here. The team he gave that speech to is not the team that quit on him. Its the kids that stuck it out and got their faces bashed in playing short handed on national TV in a game against a far superior opponent. The kids left in that locker room he is speaking to are not the ones that quit and i really dont understand why you keep saying that??

Its actually part of what makes the speech powerful and meaningful to those still sitting in front of him…he is speaking to their character while trying to help their wounds heal. If they were those that quit on them, they wouldnt have been there to hear it.

You don’t lose 63-3 unless a large contingent of the 60+ players left gave up. And gave up weeks ago.

IDK whether a lot of you guys realize. Tallahassee had a Hurricane rip through their city in late August. 4 days after we played in Dublin.
Hurricane Idalia hit Perry, Fl as a Category 3 storm, and lucky enough, Perry, Fl Is a small town. Total Devastation.

Tallahassee was in the aftermath, and those people in that area deserved more.... Especially on the west coast (big bend area) here in Fl.

Every other time a Natural Disaster happens in a vicinity of a team that is situated close to the epicenter of any major natural event, that team is always a part of the final equation through pure will..

I was an Operations Manager that was a part of the clean up crew In Perry. Those people deserved more.

I'll never again trust the ideology of a Football Committee again.

They Got It WRONG this year. Bama should have sat out.

I disagree. A Natural Disaster should have and apparently did not have an impact on the selections.

After watching the Michigan-Bama game and realizing how banged up Georgia was, it makes me more upset Florida St didn’t get a shot. Nobody in this playoff screams dominance.

In a perfect world, a 6 team, NFL playoff would have be installed. Michigan and Washington get byes, first round matchups are 4 Bama vs 4 Florida St and 6 Georgia vs 3 Texas. Michigan could’ve played lowest seed to advance. Who is favorite in that playoff? First round would be Dec 23

This is really the first year there's been that much controversy. The four-team playoff has overall been effective in picking a national champion. As frustrating as it is, I've thought for a while now that Michigan is the best team in the country. Most others were bagging on their early-season schedule, but you could see that they had a complete, physical team with a legitimate chance to win it all

Hopefully Washington can pull the upset
