Aj Harris in the portal. Like him a lot, but doubt he makes it outta the sec

5* CBs just don't seem to come to ND, I remember him showing interest and saying he wasn't an SEC guy bc he was originally from Cali! See how that worked

I saw a list yesterday of Georgia’s transfers. Yikes. When the back to back national champions can’t keep people from transferring, that’s bad bad news.

so the skuttlebutt here is that Dillion Gabriel convinced Green to enter the portal with a promise of a bag if he went to Oregon with him. OU fans are butthurt is an understatement
I think Gabriel transferred out of OU to Oregon because Oregon has the easier road; I can't wait to see how OU does in the SEC.

The tricky part about recruiting so many elite players is there isn't enough playing time for them all.

If you're a high-four/five-star who's not starting, and you see them recruiting another kid at your position behind you, and you can go start (and probably get paid) at some other good P5 program, why wouldn't you? Yeah maybe you'll get a natty next year at Georgia, but if you don't play much that won't help you get drafted.

It'll be interesting to see if the Saban/Smart model of stacking top players but often having them develop for a couple of years before they really see the field can survive the instant portal era. I'm not sure it can.

Concerned we haven’t seen anything about any Tackles we are targeting. One more OL and Safety and we should be pretty good all around

Georgia really started to dominate recruiting because they could offer something Bama couldn’t and that was immediate playing time. It’s all cyclical because that is the challenge they are facing now

While Downs and Proctor* were basically Day One starters at Bama.

*That said, call me old fashioned but I don't think starting true freshmen - no matter how talented - at OL, DL or QB is usually a sign of a top program.

Same. I think the OL could be the weak link and it’s a bad weak link to have. Other positions seem pretty solid. My rating by weak link would be:
1. OL
2. WR
3. DE pass rush
4. Back end secondary

Looking at the start of next season, yeah, OL is probably the biggest question mark on the roster.
But good OLs are of course the hardest thing to find in the portal, and also the position that benefits most from consistency.
We have a lot of talent in younger classes. Honestly I'm fine with developing those guys and having them be our OL for the next three years.

The coaches know what they have in all our returning players. If they thought we needed an “upgrade” at OL I’m sure they’d be offering Portals.

True. I think question mark is a better way to put it than “weak link”. Because we just don’t know. Not having a true #1 WR can be mitigated with a bunch of good #2s and of course good TEs and a mobile QB. Just think of Riley was QB playing OSU this year there were a few QB scrambles that came up centimeters short that Leonard would would have gotten that would have drastically changed the game.

Joe alt and Ben Morrison could’ve done that last year. Fortunately I don’t really think Notre dame recruits that type of player out of high school

One year free agents is nuts. Get some 2yr contacts with school paying going. Enough of the nil charade. Give these guys “pro” contracts.

As there is no limit to what schools can pay the money will flow. Most big programs have plenty of wealthy alumni. They will pay. It’s simple just run it thru the collective.

Why would they take a pay cut?

I don’t think this is just wealthy alums. Nobody likes football that much. Something is fishy about where the cash is coming from.

That or the income gap in this country has grown to the absurd.

Pay me 500k or else I’ll leave.

Some of these kids have got some real stones.

How many schools are going to start to simp out and cave in to these demands.
It’s market value.

Look at the OHL, the exact same thing happens there. Real mystery how the London Knights consistently get the best players.

It's the greatest well-known "secret" that the Hunter family play by different rules. The amount of NHLers to come out of the hockey program is ridiculous.
