I just don't see how ND doesn't comfortably cover. Remember when their NFL Dline was going wreak havoc on us in 2017?
Yeah but we had Brian Kelly and Brandon Wimbush!

I kid I kid

There's enough clear film of major mistakes from our players vs Tenn State (Fisher, coogan, spindler, Estime, Kick off units, even hartman, dline, betrand, liafau, henderson, etc) the team should be really ready for this game.

It's not a bad NC state team, but it's not a good one either. 15+ point win should be the expectation.

You guys realize that maybe NCS played like they did because they were looking ahead? Everyone brings their A game against us. I expect it to be a hard fought game with Hartman being the difference and our lads salting it away late.

And they likely assumed a win over UConn so they held back some things and played vanilla to keep their game plan off game tape.

They absolutely were looking ahead.

Freeman specifically stated this in the presser. It’s a big opportunity for our secondary to prove their salt.
I think our secondary showed some vulnerability when the QB got out of the pocket. TSU couldn’t capitalize on it, but NC State will be better equipped to do so. We will have to deal with a certain amount of chunk plays, but hopefully we can limit its frequency.

I'm not sure what NC St you guys are watching, but they are not good. They struggled with UConn. Armstrong ran a lot because he couldn't pass. Almost all of his passes were under 10 yards, because UConn had pressure in his face all day.

If there's a position that doesn't play down to competition, it's the OL and I thought NC State's OL looked pretty meh.

I kind of want to see some turbulence out of the gates. Maybe a Sam interception, quick score by NC to go up 7-0, get the crowd going.

I want to see how our team responds to real adversity before it's OSU.

Not a fan of the noon road start. Hope our men bring the energy from the kick. Sometimes it’s hard to get up for the early games.

Presser Q ref Hartman having a rough time with NC State. Looked it up-he had 3 picks against the Wolfpack in both 2022 & 2021.

Matt Salerno out multiple weekend due to a lower leg injury.

Ford day to day with concussion

Weird short press conference is all I can find.

If this game is close, what will that say about our prep for OSU? It was a bit disconcerting to hear about Hartman’s lack of success against them, but again, it was Wake Forest. We need to beat NCState by at least 2-3 TDs. ND should absolutely look at this opportunity as the game opener for the season. Scrimmage time is ov

new team and players around Sam so hopefully better results than in the past for him

the NC State coach didn't seem too happy about the noon start when i watched a little bit of his presser today. i'm guessing he wanted a night game since they are playing our irish.

So you’ve never seen an ND opponent play down to a lesser opponent giving the fan base false sense of dominance before they make it a nail biter or upset the Irish outright? I still don’t get fans judging a team on one game whether it was good, bad or indifferent.

I completely agree. It’s probably wishful thinking, but I wonder if there was some defensive masking going on with the DL. There’s been criticism as to why we weren’t able to generate more sacks on TSU’s QB. My hope is that there was some pull back given the competition. We talk about offenses hiding strategy, but what about defense? My hope is that the DBs are looking to finally eat with the front 7 really coming to life against actual competition.
Right but wasn’t Golden blitzing for the entire first half?

How on Earth is this preferable to ND coming out of the gates fast and strong and keeping their foot on NC State's throat the whole game? Weird wish if you ask me...
For the exact reason you left out of the quote.

I'd rather see them have some short lived adversity, overcome it, and then proceed to put their foot on the throat. I don't want the teams first "oh shit" moment on Sept 22nd.
