I believe I read, his PR triple jump was the 2nd or 3rd best in nation this year?

This is a hard one to read.
IB thinks it went very well, and ND is the leader, but have work still to do and needs to close.

If the staff isn’t able to close either Miles or Ziglar in a short period of time, the decision on Mencke looks awfully bizarre.

Exactly 100% agree why not take his commitment or at least tell him hold off take your visits and come back to us after. If the staff told him we are moving on that’s a huge mistake

Might have to look at if O'Leary can recruit up to the level that should be expected at ND.

Not being on Mencke until NSD is bizarre to me.

I get nothing about that recruitment.

Or let him give you a silent commit then he goes on his merry way and visit who he wants. If Ziglar and Miles go public first, then too bad - so sad. But I'd STILL call him the night before the second one was gonna pop and tell him the boats about to leave port.

I see little chance O’Leary is making these decisions on his own. These are decisions being made by Bowden and Freeman just like last cycle with Bowen and Hillman.

100.

Long gone are the days of flying solo until you call in the coordinator and/or HC to close.

O’Leary struggles in recruiting, but is considered one of the better coaches on the team in developing players.

But let me ask this?

Why is all the recruiting Safety on him?
A) Freeman is ultimately responsible.
B) He got Peyton Bowen & him leaving wasnt O’Leary’s fault.
C) He got Hillman, losing him wasn’t his fault.
D) He got Tae Johnson
E) It was Freeman’s decision, not O’Leary’s, to move on from Mencke

Are we sure he’s one of the best at developing players? Year in and year out, safety is one of the biggest question marks on the team. If it wasn’t for Hamilton, I don’t think he’s put one player in the league.

Safety has overachieved each year.

That’s the point. Going into the season the question is about Safety, but after the season the narrative is how the Safties played better than expected.

He was on staff & given credit for Gilman. He was the Rovers coach (as GA) who is given credit for developing JOK. And he is credited with transitioning Watts to Safety.

He takes 3 stars & develops them. He just needs some 4 & 5 Stars to develop.

The safety play has been fine, but not the level it needs to be.

Yeah, between Safety and DL, I'm not sure what the overall strategy is on defense. I'm not generally one to question Freeman, but this doesn't make a lot of sense.

We have Urlacher and seem to have locked up Johnson. They need 2 more, at least. We're looking good for Miles, but we were expecting things to be locked up this weekend and it doesn't sound like that happened. Meanwhile, they seem to have passed on Mencke. So we need to hope the staff hauls ass and locks up Miles, and then get one of Ziglar or McClain. Those aren't a lot of options with a ton of optimism in a critical juncture.

Same with DL. We have 4 commits and it seems like we're going to miss the boat for Rushing and lord know what the hell Scott is going to do. A 4-man DL class isn't enough. You need, I'd say, at least 1 more. ND needs to open things up. I'm starting to get concerned about defensive recruiting, which is something I didn't anticipate with Freeman.

247 guys CB'd McClain to buckeyeland today. You're right we've got a lot of work to do on defensive recruiting this cycle. Doesn't seem to a plan B from DE, DT, and LB but there's still time.

When you say at least 1 more, are your shooting for 2 more ?
