John Wienke just decommitted(from Michigan) and recommitted to Iowa. My question is how many more will follow the same route as Wienke. And now because of that, They are 2 deep at QB next season basically how we were this year. Better not hope for injuries scUM

Personally, I hope for many, many injuries to key personnel when it comes to scUM...

I can understand wanting to see kids de-commit or transfer. But how you hope for young men to get hurt or injured is silly.

Is K-fed still committed to scUM??

Yeah, at least for now, but speculation has been growing that he may end up at A&M. There has also been rumors for some time, even before Lloyd retired, that Cissoko(sp?) was going to decommit and head to Illinois.

Jonas Gray recently stated that the ND coaching staff has been in contact with his teamate and current UM commit Kenny Demens (4 Star LB). Jonas also said that he didn't think Kenny would show a lot of interest unless ND did end up offering, but that Corwin Brown and Mike Haywood had been up there a couple of times checking up on Jonas and Kenny.

I suspect that he was joking ...

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner.

But seriously guys, is it ever NOT ok to bash scUM? And do you really think I want human beings to be hurt? But I guess John has read more of my posts and knows more my personality. Oh well.

Well, actually when a key opposing player goes down I am happy. I don't want to see a career ending or season ending injury, but if he is knocked out of the game when we play them...I am happy. Maybe I'm just being too honest for this board.

When Mike Hart went down a few years ago and we won in The Big House, I was ectatic.

I guess you take what you can get, but beating a team with all of its players on the field is so much more satisfying than hurting their main guys, then beating the backups. Kind of puts an asterisk on the win, no?

I don't know about an asterisk...maybe. I do agree that winning against all of the starting players is definitely more satisfying.

On the radio this morning here in Ann Arbor, the local UofM "insider" said that he talked to all of Michigan's commitments and they all seem to be still firmly committed with two exceptions: Wienke obviously doesn't fit the new offense and and Sam McGuffie who is waiting to see if UofM keeps their current running backs coach or not.

They are supposedly losing Debord and English so it will be interesting to see if they do retain whoever their RB coach is.

I think dropping English would be borderline idiotic. I imagine he is the one holding together their recruiting class (yea it isn't stellar, but a lot of defensive guys might take a hike). Rodriguez is known for just being an offensive coach, and he certainly has had a craptacular D for several years now. If he brings along a D coordinator over English, I think they not only lose some commits, but also have a decent number of transfers. Also a transition to 3-3-5 could mess up their young D starting to gel.

They could end up being good next year, or they could end up just plain awful. It will be interesting to see. We will be a big challenge for a new coach.

Edit: If they switch to a 3-3-5 it will probably mean they immediately target Omar as a NT - although I can't imagine with any success. Also it will mean they will be a program fighting us for similar D-line personnel for years to come.

Where do you suspect McGuffie would end up IF he decommits from Michigan ... Oklahoma ... Texas A&M ...?

won't really be anything new will it? fighting with UM for recruits?

Well recently we haven't really had to fight, we just showed up and won. My point is that we can get some top notch D players because we don't have much competition for those suited better to the 3-4 D, like Hunter. More competition at another big-name school for these guys isn't a welcome thing. That being said I can't imagine us losing too many to 'wealthy dick'.... oops I meant 'Rich Rod'

They may have lost Weinke but they may pick up Pryor. If that happens there is a rumor that Mallet is looking at Arkansas.

That will hurt them more than anything, because the offense isn't set up for the spread yet. They might be in trouble more than alot of people think next year.

They are in for a rebuilding year next year no matter what. Mallett may be an upgrade to Henne over time but certainly not right away. He had a bunch of talent around him this year and he wasn't very productive (had something like 14 giveaways in limited time, and his completion % was garbage) and next year he will be working with a lot of younger guys and a worse offensive line. Also living in Michigan I watched the Wisconsin, and Ohio State games and there was at least ten times he had Mario Manningham, or Adrian Arrington wide open and he overthrew them. He has all the talent but he needs a TON of work. No RB on their team will be as effective as Mike Hart, and Manningham is more than likely gone. Their defense should be solid but they lose Shawn Crable who was the heart and soul of this years defense. Michigan is going to struggle to win more than 7 games next year.

We can only hope and pray, but I doubt it! Their schedule is NOT that tough! PSU on the road would normally be really tough, but PSU will be down a lot next year. They have 3 home games that could be "toss ups" and only 2 tough road games (ND and O$U) ...

I also live in Michigan, and I can sure you that Meeeshiguhn NEVER has a "rebuilding year". They sometimes suffer through years of "questionable officiating", "untimely injuries"...

Now that Rodriguez fired every assistant head coach I imagine there will be more de-commitments. McGuffie is probably an on-the-fence since he had a close relationship with their RB coach, and supposedly cissoko is shopping around. RR has limited time to make up for them potentially losing some of their best of this years class if they depart.

McGuffie has grandkids to feed! He's been married for like 10 years or something. Michigan is going to lose a lot of recruits. RR is making a mistake by getting rid of all of the coaches. He is just severing the ties with the recruits.

Also, 7 wins sounds about right for Michigan. I don't think any Big Ten team is scared of Ryan Mallett's running ability. They are also losing everyone from last year's 8 win team. Crable, Henne, Hart, Manningham-all gone. This team will struggle to make a bowl even with an easy Big Ten schedule.

I'm hearing that ND is starting to go very hard after Mike Martin. A highly ranked DT commited to UM. If I had to guess I'd say this has quite a bit to do with Omar Hunter.

I thought it's come out that while Martin was wavering somewhat due to turmoil at UM, things have calmed down with the hiring of RR......and that he stated he is solid with UM.

Yeah, that's true as well but I just thought I'd throw it in because ND tends to go after kids at a program where there's been a coaching change and it looks like the entire UM defensve staff will be gone so I wouldn't count Corwin Brown out just yet. But like you said it'll probably end up being all for nothing in the end.
