According to the Utah 247 board it was a plane from a company owned by an ND alum. So kind of?
TBF, one of the largest private jet charter companies is owned by an ND alum.

All of this really made the whole argument about coaches on private jets really funny to me. Like, could we really not call up Mr. Ricci and ask for some free memberships to flexjet or something?

Ludwig’s coaching resume is so long that it includes developing David Carr into the No. 1 pick in the 2002 NFL Draft out of Fresno State.
Some of that quarterback development nearly upset Notre Dame four years ago when Vanderbilt senior quarterback Kyle Shurmur threw for 326 yards in a 22-17 loss that came down to a fourth down incompletion in the final minute. Ludwig coached Shurmur for all four seasons in Nashville, taking a scattershot freshman and developing him into the school’s all-time leader in passing yardage (8,865) and touchdown passes (64).

Well that should be a fun selling point for our 2024 QB.

"I already coached one Carr into being a #1 pick and I'm about to do it again!"

I talked to one of the, what, like 8(?) actual die hard Vandy fans in the entire universe about Ludwig tonight. He’s like us with ND- knows all the players, personnel, staff, recruiting backgrounds, etc.

He had been his cups pretty heavy so couldn’t speak too clearly, but dude absolutely loves and raved about Ludwig, thinks he’s a fantastic coach, and claims he is the sole reason Mason was able to keep his job job as long as he did there. Thinks Ludwig would be like a Mike Elko at ND type or David Cutcliffe at tennessee type of hire for MF and ND.

It’s tough to gauge how he actually did at Vanderbilt, because the entire team sucked so bad. So this all made me feel better.

Touchy? This should be great news but you are cramping up over it. Take a Midol and get some sleep.
A midol joke? Really? Come on. Do better. Get some new material and stop focusing on Rees. Maybe talk about the new OC? Either way you’re going to need some new material over the next few months

If he wants to bring some of his own people from Utah do you think Freeman allows him?

I would say he could bring any analyst he wants but we have the best overall position coaches he have had in a long time. Can’t risk losing them.

Best thing about Ludwig is that he's 1) old 2) a career OC... which is pretty much the only scenario where we don't have to do OC musical chairs every year that we have success on that side of the ball.
The fact he runs a system that is custom fit for the players we attract is icing on the cake!
He was my top choice until I heard we were flirting with Johnson.

I'd say same. Especially if he's not a plus recruiter. Stuckey and DMC bring a lot to the table in that department and you don't want to mess with that. Obviously Heistand shouldn't be going anywhere.

I doubt it, but could stand some analysis of the Ute's offensive staff and if they've been with Ludwig or they're more Whittingham guys.
Isn't the general consensus that this offensive staff did pretty well? WR production was more due to talent/ experience, but hard to argue someone else could've gotten more out of the players.

I don't think he is going to bring anyone.
The OL coach is already the AHC and has been there 9 years.
The TE coach has been there 7 years and is a Whittingham, so I'm assuming he is related to the HC.
The WR coach has been there 2 years. Maybe he likes him, but maybe he also likes Stuckey.
The RB coach has only been there for one year.

None of those really seem like the type where a coach has a long history with a guy and are a package deal. It might be more of something where we keep those names in mind the next time we would have to replace one of those positions.

They do have a GA that maybe we should get as an analyst. Besides working with Ludwig, the previous year he was a GA at Tennessee State. We shouldn't need an inside source on an FCS team, but it wouldn't hurt when we will be coming back from Ireland and working on a weird schedule.

There is also an analyst that has been with Ludwig for a long time. I bet he comes over.

Well, it looks like their TE coach is Whittingham's brother, and their OL coach has been there nine years and is an "assistant head coach." The RB and WR coaches are both younger guys in their first P5 jobs. Hard to see them being upgrades on what we've got.

That's some set of choppers.
