He's actually an overrated recruiter. From all reports this year in Miami, he was universally loathed, and that seems pretty consistent with his time at Michigan as well.

Xavier Worthy’s mom liked him

I think a lot of the “archaic” offense had to do with Brady. He basically made them change the offense to what he felt comfortable with. It was the right move as he’s the GOAT and won them a Super Bowl. I’m just not totally sold that’s what you would get if you hired Leftwich.
Exactly lol.. Oh.. the 45 year old pro style QB couldn’t run a high tempo, creative offense?? No wayyy

Any chance this is Leftwich's agent trying to leak this to drum up "perceived competition" for their client?
Yes, I don't think we all should get worked up as names are leaked to the press. Leftwich will likely be interviewed if he really has interest but there will also likely be multiple candidates that get interviewed.

Not my first choice, but isn't this a little hyperbolic?

At least provide some substance lol
He coaches a very vanilla, talent dependent pro-style offense. He does virtually nothing to scheme guys open and is not innovative.

And even if he does succeed that would mean that he’s headed right back to the NFL and ND gets back on the treadmill looking for a new OC.

Sounds like a ringing endorsement from an ass clown that’s probably suckin Brady’s ass!

Give him a look, what’s it gonna hurt? Love how these “anal-ist” disregard ALL the facts when opening their mouths. It’s just stupid.

I have confidence that Freeman will get the right man for the job. His job is counting on it.

Freeman, Hartman want a pro style offense, and any DC that is worth a spit will be gone in two years anyway. See NDs last few DCs.

I admit I know nothing about his offense, but He's an ex pro, NFL OC, and is young. Lots to like.

Honestly, Hartman’s opinion does not matter

How does one become labeled an overrated recruiter?

I get some of the apprehension, but Arians is a better coach than anyone ND has had in at least 26+ years, and has been adamantly in Leftwich's corner. Whether that makes him a fit for ND or not is a different issue. But to suggest he's a garbage candidate because he had an injury-riddled line that couldn't block its way out of a wet paper bag and a QB who couldn't adjust to life without his safety blanket is a bit too much.

Leftwich needs to rebuild himself after having the Jags HC job locked up but wanted to bring in his own GM, Bucs offense was atrocious given the injuries & Brady playing like garbage.

He’s not in any OC conversations in the NFL - next best thing is rebuilding himself at a prominent University. He wouldn’t stay long if the Irish offense is successful… not many coaches would.

Stated above Freeman should at least listen to hear what he has to say.

People have their minds made up. So it goes.

There were multiple reasons that team sucked. Some opine to pin it all on Leftwich. I don't think he's a serious candidate for the ND job, but to echo what others have said, Freeman at least speaking to him is if nothing else good for Freeman gathering experience as a head coach and going through this process. It won't be the last time he has to do it, as much as that scares the piss out of a lot of you.

People think he's good because he pulled in some five stars at Bama (like they do every year), and that rep followed him to Michigan and Miami, where he was a non-factor on the trail.

I know a few high school coaches in Miami-Dade who had nothing good to say about him. And that's something that's seemingly pretty consistent about Gattis after he burns bridges on the way out.

100% it’s an agent feeding the media. Not sure what the play is though it makes him seem super desperate

If the rumors about him are remotely close to being true, he's not making the vetting process step one at ND. Another guy I'm not worried about as a serious candidate.

Hence the "perceived competition" thing. They'll probably hoping that some other even more desperate school tries to jump in here.

I personally don’t care for BL. He was good enough to get to the NFL as a QB and that’s it. He just doesn’t impress me much.

But at the same point it’s an interview. You have to find out information about him. Did Brady have more say in the play calling or did the head coach dictate to him what to do? How does he feel about recruiting? Gotta get some feelers.

So Parker took over a WVU offense that was a complete trainwreck the season before and actually improved it. I'm not endorsing him for the job, but if he were to get promoted, some of you guys may want to pump the breaks before sticking your heads in the oven. He was demoted when WVU hired Graham Harrell, and Harrell just moved on to Purdue.

Parker is also yet another name that somehow was at Penn State with Big Game Franklin (Moorhead, Gattis).

Super Bowl winning OC calls you about a vacancy, you’re going to pick up the phone. I don’t think he’s the answer, but you have to at least talk. Are there any new lists out of guys we have initiated contact with yet? Things should be leaking out slowly very soon.

I read mid-week we may get some info about potential interviews……
