ND is counterculture to where NCAA football is and going. Jesus Himself probably couldn’t do much better recruiting at ND. We have a Touchdown Jesus, we need a recruiting Je$us.
My fucking ass. Football is an integral part of the university’s identity. They can play up the religious bullshit all they want, it means nothing. And I say this as a graduate of Catholic grade school, high school, and college.

We have a recruiting Jesus. The problem is other schools are dumping boatloads of fish on recruits doorsteps, they don't need to learn to fish.

I don't want to be too reactionary but if literally every other P5 school is playing ball with NIL except ND, it will be really hard to keep/get good coaches.

Who wants to bust their ass all year recruiting and coaching, in a high profile, demanding environment, only to have your best recruits (and potentially current players) get poached every winter.
But again, who says their not playing ball? Kyle Hamilton said it wasn’t an issue.

You can’t honestly believe this is/could be true or even possible.
I have no idea if it's true. But if the best players from the class are all poached before signing day, despite Freeman busting his ass all year, I am pretty sure NIL is a big part of it.

The whole class has been poached right before signing day? Edwards hired his childhood coach named Deion Sanders hired. Limar been wavering for months. Bowen for literally a year. You’re putting a frame on it that fits that NIL swooped in super quickly, even though these are months like developments potentially for 2 kids. Did we NIL Minchey then? If perceived speed = NIL then clearly yes.

Fair point, but Pitt isn’t who ND should compare themselves to.

Also all three of them have good and normal reasons to flip other than NIL (Deion, proximity to home, GF/QB/Local pressure).

Yes we have to up our NIL game for recruits but it’s not the only reason kids flip. The only loss I’d put squarely on NIL is Dante and honestly I think we’re better off at this point.

I never said the whole class. I said the best players from the class. Keeley, Bowen, Limar, and Love would be in that tier. Keeley was NIL'd without a doubt. The others are getting bags too, all they have to do is take them.

I'm just saying, guys like Freeman who are extremely competitive and motivated to win are not going to stick around forever if they're being hamstrung. He wants to "enhance the roster." For awhile it looked like he could. Now, the outlook is not so cheery.

Limar isn’t in that tier. I don’t believe the Love rumors.

Did Michigan figure out their NIL game? Has there been any buzz on that front?

Unrelated to Love — In general, that was the biggest thing holding them back this year and I’d watch out for them in future classes if they’re straight on that.

I'm hoping Harbaugh gets NFL attention again & hasn't learned his lesson

Are you saying religion means nothing at ND?
I can tell you that ND has a $20 billion endowment NOT because of football. It’s because if religion and educational donations.
And nobody cares you went to all Catholic schools, so did pedophiles & serial killers.

You are just whiny & negative. It’s football. Don’t have an aneurism over it.

Football is critical to the school’s identity. It would be moronic to ignore that. Otherwise, they’re just Georgetown of the Midwest.

Smart of Michigan and everyone else to go after the guys who've already had their in home visit with Freeman. Basically gives us no chance to rebuttal other than over the phone.

I still blame Rees for that. How dumb do you have to be to think a silent commitment means anything after several months?
By that logic, what does a public announcement mean? Nothing. If Moore had publicly committed then decommitted we would still be in the same spot. And what does that change about anything else. Vizzina was a Clemson lean. You guys live in this world where ND passed on two 5 stars but that isn't reality.

I think this has less to do with NIL and more to due with poor process/planning. Committed kids shouldn’t be taking visits. End of story. NIL isn’t affecting Adon Shuler. NIL isn’t affecting Christian Gray. Both studs with other big offers.

The reality is they accepted commitments from kids that weren’t ready to shut it down. That’s just bad management. This is the same thing that fucked S and WR last cycle.

Pretty funny to believe that Georgetown of the Midwest is some put down. Even with the market boom for football, there is still a whole lot more $$ in being an elite Academic institution.

Kenny Minchey committed on 11/22 after having been committed to Pitt for months. Three more commits followed him and two of those three were committed to different schools previously. Today is 12/12/22.

Four commits in less than a month that we're posting right now and people think things are unraveling?

See, I don’t think things are unraveling as a whole, the class will still look really good on paper. But, if you have 27 guys committed and lose 3, on the surface, who cares. However, if 2 of those 3 are the same position group then it matters a little more. It can create roster gaps like S and WR last cycle.

In general, this is the risk of this type of recruiting structure and it’s been fairly obvious for awhile now.
