I know these rankings don't really matter, and if this has been discussed elsewhere, I apologize, but does anyone else find it odd that ND has less ranking points than both BYU and UNC? We went on the road and really handled them more than the final scores indicated. How long is the Marshall hangover? If ND beats Stanford, do they get back in the rankings?

Unlikely, unless teams in front of ND lose. A win against a very bad Stanford does not move the needle.

We have future matchups vs three teams in the current top 20.
Promise you if we finish 10-2 on the season, we will all be happy with whatever rankings come of it.

Seasons aren't defined in September - October, lets just hope the boys keep pushing and stay injury free.
We have the talent to finish 10-2 and still save an awesome season out of the misery that was the first two weeks of the season.

Would be a pretty wild way to end up with the "drop one we should, and one we shouldn't" result that a lot of folks predicted before the season.

Rankings are a bit irrelevant at the moment. All rankings will reflect (or similar to) the Playoff Rankings that will be released the week of the Clemson game. So let's take scare of business up until that point and see what shakes out. Plus, we lost to a 3-2 Marshall at home that folks can't (and shouldn't) get out of their mind until we prove otherwise in a big way. Clemson, SC are those ways. We've shown we can trip up easily, so let's do the job against Stanford, then UNLV. Testy 'Cuse pre-Clemson, so no looking ahead.

And somewhere people are still crying about ND being overrated....

Yeah, there's what like six ranked on ranked matchups this week? Regardless doesn't really matter, not playoff bound this year, just keep getting better.
There are four teams ranked in the 20s with challenging games Saturday (#20 Utah vs. #7 USC. #22 Texas vs. Iowa State. #22 Kentucky vs. #16 Miss. State. #24 Illinois vs. Minnesota.) #25 James Madison plays Ga. Southern who beat Nebraska, so who knows.
But, yes, it does not matter. Just keep winning our games and the rankings will take care of themselves.

We lost to Marshall, and not a good Marshall. After they beat us, they lost to Bowling Green and Troy. As far as I am concerned, we need to get to 6-2 before we get ranked. Hopefully in the high teens after beat a ranked Syracuse squad.
