Maybe you should...

In terms of funding ratio California ranks 27th in the US... about average. In terms of Unfunded Liabilities as a Percentage of Gross State Product (GSP), basically the equivalent of debt-to-GDP ratio economists judge national debt on, California ranked 28th... about average. In terms of Percent Actuarially Determined Contribution (ADC) Paid, while California is at #41, they're still at 95.83%.

California isn't Illinois, Connecticut, or New Jersey.
That's all well and good, but California can't toot its horn for a "budget surplus" while billions of unfunded liabilities hang in the balance with no plan.

Plenty of people are interested (into) politics without being a poll watcher, committeeman, etc. Was he stupid? No argument there but he has to be personally invested in politics pretty heavily to trigger him into doing something stupid like that.
Yeah. I wish him well when he's on his local school board next year.

My guess on where she is: Idaho.

Don't know it for a fact, just know it's true.

It would be nice if California had a BUDGET SURPLUS to be able to strengthen said programs, wouldn't? Duhhh
Can't wait to hear what California has in store for these funds. Will they allocate more to gender transition surgery for 6 year olds, abortion for minors, or some other social injustice? Maybe they can start with getting the needles and shit off of sidewalks, or start paying down their debt which is 18% of GDP, ranking 11th highest in the country.

They have the surplus because they're not spending the money on said programs. Or to put it another way, if they were funding them like they should there wouldn't be a surplus. Duh

Yeah? Maybe all states should do like most red states that operate on shoestring budgets and are essentially welfare states of the fed. Californias contributions to federal taxes pretty much funds the operations of several red states

There are numerous red states that are essentially welfare states of the federal government meaning they take more federal money than they contribute. Many red states claim low taxes, cheap goods, etc but the only way they keep the doors of the government open is because they receive federal money. Take that away and these states are under water.

States Most Dependent on the Federal Government - 2021 Edition - SmartAsset

4. Mississippi

Federal government money in Mississippi makes up 2.19 times more than the income taxes paid in the state, the second-highest ratio for this metric in our study. Federal funding represents 42.22% of the state’s government revenue, the fourth-highest percentage overall. Mississippi also finishes 12th for workers employed by the federal government, at 3.01%.

5. Louisiana

Louisiana gets 46.42% of its budget from the federal government, the highest percentage in the study for this metric. The Bayou State also ranks seventh-highest for its 1.35 ratio between federal funding and income taxes paid. Federal employees make 1.75 times more than private sector employees, the 10th-highest rate for this metric overall.

I mean I guess it’s easy to promote you have all these low taxes and shit when 40% of your operating revenue comes from blue states.

Indiana is a red state and has a surplus. The governor is working on a plan to send some of that back to it's citizens. I suspect an announcement about a refund check or whatever they call it will come closer to election time.

Holcomb is more Mitch Daniels than Mike Pence.

If you live in Indiana, that's good.

They have unfunded liabilities which I have on good authority means they don't actually have a surplus. No horn tooting for the Hoosier state!
