So hard to keep talented athletes in baseball given the crappy scholarship amounts in college.

With all the questions regarding would ND land two QB's in '22, maybe they've been staring this gift horse in the mouth the whole time? (Or trying to steal one with a PWO)

All State... Brother Rice plays 7A out of 8A.

Conference POTY

Sun-Times POTY

Tribune / Southtown POTY.

Won those awards over a lot of P5 players including Ohio State's Kaleb Brown and Michigan's Jimmy Rolder.

Had 2500 yds passing / 1100 yds rushing and 41 TD's for the #7 team in IL. Finished 10-3 only loses were to #2 Joliet Catholic, #3 Loyola Academy and #6 Wheaton North

Dad played football at Harvard, got his JD at Northwestern and is currently the US Attorney for ILL's Northern District.

Great film, wonder how much money ND Baseball is giving him? Wouldn't surprise me if they have to offer him to keep him now that NW offered.

Read that he plans to sign on the 15th so this will wrap up this week.

Likely no more than a half scholarship. ND's ability to combine athletic scholarships with academic one's is a lot more difficult than other schools since ND offers almost no academic scholarships. Just pure financial aid.

I'm skeptical that we will be able to keep him, unless Dad doesn't mind writing the check.

It could be a question of where he sees his pro potential though. I don't know how good NW's baseball program is, but if he thinks our baseball player development is better and that's where he thinks his future is, then it might be worth paying the difference. This is especially true because if he ends up being a good P5 level football player, then he will probably end up on scholarship at ND anyways.

How's NW's baseball program?

Was thinking the same Southside.

I'm nearly certain Jack's old man is a district attorney who went to law school at NW.

Money is not going to be an issue here but he has connections to NW.

Seems like a solid kid so wish him luck wherever he goes.

Finished 10th out of 13 in the Big Ten in 2021. Ninth in 2019.

Head Coach stepped down in May. Associate Head Coach was named Interim.

Northwestern Baseball:

2021 = 15-21

2020 = 6-7

2019 = 23-27

Dad can afford to stroke the check until Junior earns the scholarship but it wouldn't surprise me if they offer him when Evers goes nowhere.

Any reasons why we shouldn’t offer? My scholarship math isn’t up to date, but I feel like ND should have room. Kid’s a gamer and could shock everyone at the next level. Even if he doesn’t play more than a few snaps for ND he seems like a kid who would have a lot to offer to the program and school.

We definitely do not have room to spare. If all the guys eligible to come back do come back, then we are at ~95 scholarships for next year.

But the fact is, ND has chased other '22 QB's recently. I'm not sure recruiting Nick Evers is a good look if you are trying to keep Lausch in the class as a PWO when he has a NW offer now.

Now if they can get a years worth of free milk before they buy the cow his soph year... great move.

It appears he has chosen a football scholarship to NU over a baseball to ND.

NU because they offered for an actual football scholly I believe.....makes sense b/c that's guaranteed a full ride. If it was just baseball it's possible he still would have had to pay.

best of luck to the kid.

Relying on your baseball team to provide your second QB was always a long shot.

You would think that Lausch and ND would've already had this discussion prior to him flipping. "Yeah Coach, I really love ND and would love to stick with you guys, but I am flipping my commitment unless you were to offer me a football scholarship. Is there any possibility? No? Ok thanks."

And he was in south bend this weekend so it’s pretty likely that conversation took place
