I think we can defeat Duke and Stanford!

I think we can beat the Blue Devils and Cardinal the next 2 weeks to salvage this season. The Blue Devils of Duke are 1-10,and they have the worst record in D-1 football the last 3 years. And the last time Duke and the Sons of Erin met at Touchdown Jesus,I think the Irish scored 60+ points against them. And even though Stanford did beat USC this season,I don't think the Cardinal will pull out a victory against ND. And I think if Jimmy Clausen starts against the Cardinal in Palo Alto,it's a sure bet he'll be 43-0 in California-41-0 in high school and 2-0 with the Domers! And do remember:after the '63 season,when the Irish were 2-8,they fired Hugh Devore and replaced him with Ara Parseghian. And great things happened for the Blue and Gold. In 2008,Dr. White will keep Charlie as the freshmen get a year of experience under their belts. And I believe that great things are going to happen after this miserable season. Just remember that after that 2-8 disaster in '63,the Irish would win a National Championship 3 years later. Maybe CW may wake up the echoes after this horrible season and bring home championship #12 to the Holy Cross Fathers at least next year.Go Irish!

The game with the Cardinal is going to be played at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto,California on November 24th. If we beat Duke,then beat Stanford,then we can avoid having the fewest wins ever by an Irish team. This Saturday's game is the home finale,and it's Senior Day as the ND Nation pay tribute to John Carlson and the other seniors on the team,and it's on NBC with coverage beginning at 2 pm Eastern.

The November 24th contest will possibly be on ESPN,and it will be the last game of the 119th season of Notre Dame Football.

I am going to listen to the games on Westwood One with Don Criqui and Allen Pinkett,then listen to the postgame show on the Chicago Irish affiliate!

We better beat Duke. I HOPE we beat Stanford (I'll be there; my kid's first game). In any case, though, this season is FAR beyond salvaging ...

Duke has the potential to get ugly for them.

Stanford will be a good game. I can definitly see a game similar to Duke but it depends if they play the way they did the way against SC or the way they did against UCLA

CAN is one thing, but WILL they. I feel confident about the Duke game, but the Standford game in Cali is going to be a good test for this Irish team. As with nearly ALL teams that play the Irish, they'll be prepared and pumped. The true question is, will the Irish be prepared and pumped to put a positive spin for the last game of the season? They NEED to close out w/ the W and carry some mo into the off season and next year!

Far beyond salvaging, indeed. Who'd have EVER thought we'd be speculating about ND's chances against DUKE and Stanford ?

I think you need to look up the definition of "salvage." Beating these two bottom-feeders does not mean we've recovered from this nightmare season or turned it around. Duke is the absolute worst and nothing to crow about if we beat em. Jesus, how low have we sunk when domers are looking up to the Duke and Stanford games...

Well, I'm not sure if agree with the term "salvage" or not either. The one thing that would happen if we did win the next two games is give a young team a big boost in confidence going into next season. That would be a good thing.

Well, personally, I think salvaging is what you make of it. For instance...

If we beat Duke and Stanford this year, we can win the covetted, and mythical, TTPACWFT* National Champioship! What a springboard into 2008!

I totaly agree. This season has been an absolute waste. I won't be happy until the Irish are back contending for the NC.
