I wouldn't think so, at least not at this point. No if he decides WR is the spot for him I think ND has a better chance but right now I think he'll end up at somewhere like K-Sate, Mizzou, or Illinois.

He's being recruited as a wide receiver but told that he has a shot to play QB depending on how things go. Weis said he'd be willing to take an extra QB this year or next so long as it was someone who could also play another position. (I wrote about this here, a few weeks ago.)

In any case, it seems to be a moot point, since Harper ain't coming to ND.

Apparently the original rumor was started on the 4HL, it was then taken to the KSU free board by a Michigan fan, which was then picked up by the free ND board.

Here's what the Michigan guy was saying...

There is a rumor floating on the ND boards that Harper committed to ND today. A poster is claiming he heard on the radio today in South Bend that ND got a QB commit from Wichita, KS.

You guys hearing anything?

The KSU guys doubted the rumor and so do I untill a hear or see something more definate given Harper's reaction to his unofficial to Mizzou over the weekend.

I think he's still a bit of a long shot unless he wants to play WR in college. Cal and ND are the WR schools here. The other three all want him at QB and I think he'll end up at one of those three.

If Gabbert is legitimately interested in Misouri, I wouldn't think he has a shot there as a QB prospect.

Not necessarily. Gabbert, Harper and Will Compton are all pretty good buddies. I think if Mizzou ends up with Compton and Gabbert, they have a better chance of Harper residing there as well.

In the most recent article to come out Chris not only restated that he wants to play QB in college, but he has also added another team into the mix. This time it's flavor of the week Oregon, that has been showing interest in him, although they have yet to offer. Chris also mentioned that Oregon is recruting him at QB. He also talked some about his recent official visit to Illinois.

Yeah, I think we're there just so he can have an ND hat on the table.

Yeah the only other school still in it that isn't recruiting him at QB is Cal and they were bumped out of the top five by Oregon. Cal wanted him as a WR, ND wants him as an ATH, but I think it's a huge longshot that either will happen.

Goshen, where did you get that tidbit? The last thing I heard was that he was really high on K-State after this last weekend's visit because the OC put his mind at ease about playing quarterback and how he would fit in the scheme. Are we 100% that he's knocked them off the list?
