What's the vibe on campus how the football team doing. Is the Student body behind the team, or it's like a morgue on campus. I heard many times how wonderful the atmosphere before and after a game. Has it changed? If so how?

Let's Go Dame Please !!!!

As of right now ? Here's what most of us on campus are thinking:
It's 1:32AM here, I just got back from our SYR, I'm extremely exhausted and tired, and I'm not entirely sober... and yet I've still the ability to make out that 'aint none' is a syntactical and grammatical trainwreck.

As for the rest of the week. Yea, we're whining and griping about the season, but come the weekend we're filling up the stadium or gathering around the plasma in the dorm lounges expecting a Notre Dame victory. This is Notre Dame here, from ourselves we never expect anything less than excellence.

I was stuck in an airport last night and so did not see your question until now, otherwise I would have replied sooner.

I can only speak for the MSU game weekend b/c that's when I was there. The student section cheered their hearts out for the team the entire game. The heart went out of a lot of the non-student spectators in the 4th quarter when Evan Sharpley went 3 and out, but the student section never gave up, never stopped making their "OOOOHHH" noise to support the defense and cheering every good play.

I went to the drummers circle the night before the game, and it was packed, mostly with students. They stayed the entire hour, doing every cheer at least a dozen times. Wore my 37-year-old self out. ;)

Never fear, the students are behind their classmates. Sure, they are upset like all of us at the results of the team. Sure, some are critical of individual and collective performances. But the support does not waver.

Jason and portlaNDgal..............nice to see the Northwest is so well represented. Hard to be an ND fan, here in Portland. UGH, do they hate ND up here.

Can't count all the texts, messages, and calls I get from Beaver and Duck fans back home. But we've got our fair share of NW representation on IrishEnvy and at Notre Dame, thank goodness. I know LoveMyIrish hails from Portland. And Jesuit High School sends a handful of kids here every year. Oh, and tomorrow is the start of Energy Week, undoubtedly brought to you by an Oregonian. :)

In that case, I think we need to organize a weekly gathering of Irish-friendly folks, for the games.

I agree. We are frustrated. We are sick of losing. But the team is a part of us, and no one is giving up. We are all still game-watching for road games and standing the whole game when it is at home.

Rather than focusing on this year, the buzz around campus is all about the future. Every day, I hear something to the effect of "Just wait until next year and the year after that. We are going to be in the national title hunt again." The excitement is still there, and I think it always will be.

We have unofficial game watches at The City sports bar on SW 4th and Oak. I've been to a few. Went to GT and unfortunately they gave the 2 best TVs to the Wisconsin-WSU game. There's another Irish bar on Hawthorne that gets a few Irish fans too, not sure exactly where it is. And once a year they have a game watch at a wholesale electronic store in NW Portland with food and beer. It was the UM game this year. Blech.

Check out the local ND club website Notre Dame Club of Portland for details on game watches.

Thanks portlaNDgal,

This year has been a bit of a mess for me. I went to South Bend for the GT game. Then I was in Bulgaria and Macedonia, for the Michigan and Michigan State games.
