I was confident at the start of the year IF we lost to GT we'd be 0-3 at this point... I was am still am confident we would win the next two games... We'll show up, the O line getting a kick in the ass in practice will show up... The d will be able to rest and play the whole game... we'll win by ten...

Charlie's not losing to MSU again in his time as HC remember???

;)

I have throughly researched the MSU team and they are much slower on defense than any of the 3 teams that we have played. Don't get me wrong they will bring the heat, (Dantonio is known as a very good defensive coach) but he doesn't have the personel to fit his defensive scheme quite yet. Even though it hasn't been apparent I think our athletes far out match theirs. The offense will have fewer mistakes and will move the ball with consistancy, which will give the D a break. I can't wait until saturday!

WHAT? What do you see that I dont? Michigan State has athletes that will and can match up with our "athletes" if not better. I so disagree with what you said but I hope youre right. I say this is another blowout loss for the Irish.

May God have mercy on our opponents souls, cause when these kids learn to win there will be a reckoning, they will shake down the thunder and unleash a wrath upon all unbelievers.

Ok...... maybe I got a little carried away. But I really hope they win....

I believe that too IrishRanger, but I also find it hard to believe we win this week. We may have more talent, but it is raw . MSU is not a great team, but it has a range of talent and experience. These aren't Dantonio's players, but they have been relatively quick to grasp at least the the foundations of the style he wants them to play. It'll be hard to stop their thunder and lightning attack for 4 quarters. If the D canstiffen lik the first half of the PSU game and Hoyer has an off day., we gotta chance. But I honestly think we would have a bettter chance to beat them in week 8 or so

Don't see your logic. MSU is tied for first in the country in sacks (17). Couple that with ND leading the nation in sacks allowed, and we'll be lucky if JC sees Week No. 5 alive. Can't do anything when the QB is on the turf the whole game.

Oh, and btw, enough with blaming our woes on TY. That makes us look bad.

What have you seen so far in this offense that would lead you to believe that any of this is possible?

I'm not sure if we can beat MSU or not, but if we do, does anyone think it would be possible for us to start the season 4-3? (Purdue, UCLA, BC)

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. One game at a time.

would be great but you have a total of 30 points worth of touchdowns not including extra points.

how about
Notre Dame 35
MSU 21

G & B,

The 2 TDs to Carlson and Kamara are the same as the 2 TDs on Clausen's stat line. I think he got the score right.

You guys aren't drinking Kool-Aid; you are drinking crazy juice. There is no way in the world that our offense will score 35 points after scoring three points in the first three games (no credit given for the 10 points at PSU which were DEF and ST).

Boys and Girls....

I don't care if we win this week or not...I just want to see effort and improvement

Some positive yards on offense, less penalties, maybe an offensive score...I think that will hearten the defense and not tire or depress them as much...

would be happy with 24-14 loss as long as those two scores aren't just interceptions returned for touchdowns (not that theres anything wrong with that)

I want the boys to be able to lift their heads a bit

I agree with Connor. If we keep setting these rather lofty goals then we will just continue to come away dissapointed. As long as the Irish come away with a solid effort...maybe some offensive touchdowns and show that they do in fact have life in them and can play this game called football then I will be satisfied.

I like many of you had the irish winning 6, 7 maybe even 8 games if we got some breaks, but now that looks incredibly lofty....so I've adjusted, I just want to see a consistant improvement week to week and a team that still has some fire even after getting embarassed so far. Then I will be content.

that would be nice....I'm prepared for a winless season, so I don't care if they win a game. I'm already thinking of next year and my hopes for this season are nothing more than learning through live fire.

It seems as if the only thing on people's minds is the butt-whippings we have received the past 3 weeks. I don't blame anyone for that. However, with a new week brings new hope. Lost in all the BS of ND football is the flag-planting of MSU players 2 years ago when we lost to them in overtime on our own field. I certainly haven't forgotten that. I realize there are some major issues to overcome, but with this game should come renewed passion toward beating the shit out of a team that came to our house and tarnished our image with the flag-planting.

I don't know about you guys but looking at other ND message boards, namely Irish Illustrated, has made me sick. Nine out of ten posts on that board are disgracing to the Irish program and its coming from its "supposed" fans. There are opposing teams' fans that are being more understanding of our situation than we are. Everyone is giving up on the Irish and all the progress Weis has made the past couple of years since taking over for Willingham. This was inevitable. Did we think it was going to be this bad? Of course not. But our O-line depth was depleted.

I am frustrated as you all are, but giving up on your favorite team because they don't play the way you want them to is not the answer. I am still a ND fan and will always be, even if we get our asses handed to us. Losing is a part of the game and if we have a losing record, so be it. It's not the end of the world. Keep the faith, ND will win in the end.

GO ND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't agree more. GO IRISH

Remember this season.

It builds character and an appreciation for your team.
Like I said somewhere else, this is the breaking point. We either fight through it or we sink. Weis is going through HELL right now in his coaching career.
People upping and leaving. Team not winning. People questioning him. This is where we will see the true character of this team and coach. How well will he handle the adversity? Understand character is built out of adversity. When you run from adversity you don't grow as a person or in this case a team. It's seems to me that he feels that he may have mismanaged the preperation of this team in one way or another. His humility showed when he took the heat when he was questioned by reporters. That is always the first step. That is the stand up leader that you want because NO coach is perfect(see Belichek).
Even though I am passionate about ND and HATE the losses I understand the process in which Weis is going through. It will be interesting to see how he and the team responds in this challenging time.
