I know hindsight is 20/20, but obviously DJ was the wrong choice, this ND team will not run the option. Weis knows how to run a pro style offense, he should stick to that. Sharpley has looked decent, but eventually this will probably be Clausen's team. Allen has the potential to be a super star. Maybe not this year, but soon.

With that said, I still think Charlie is going to bring ND a championship.

As LSU demonstrated so dramatically last year, the Irish weren't any good when they were good. Now, after being undressed completely by Georgia Tech, it's time to concentrate on academics and set sights lower by revising future scheduling so as to no longer take on the big boys.

I said the same thing about Davie, about WIllingham, about Brady about Ron P.

it's tough for a team to go from losing three straight games by 20+ to winning a title in the same run of players... I just hope ND is patient enough with CW.

I am positive. I didn't want that post to seem negative. Jones is a great athlete, but he's not a drop back passer and that's what Charlie runs best.

ND still wins 8 games this year, but we grow a lot in the first few games.

In no way am I down on this team. I see great things. Especially from this D when they get some rest inbetween series.

This team looks bad, and Mark May is going to smile from ear to ear next time we see him.

I agree. You can only expect the defense to hold up so long. I thought they actually did a pretty good job, but when you're on the field that much you're going to eventually get tired.

This is a young inexperienced offensive line that needs game experience to gel, and GT is the wrong kind of team to try to do that against.

Other than that I would like to see Clausen start and get more time if he's healthy, as well as more touches for AA.

Yeah, this D is going to change some opinions about ND. Give them some rest inbetween series and they're going to make some great plays. I'm more optimistic about the next couple of years of ND football than I have been in a few years.

I know we lose this game, but as much as Charlie hates the "rebuilding" term, that's where we are. I see improvement over the season and I actually see a bowl win.

I'm more confident of that now than I was before the start of this game.

1. Both lines are absolutley horrible.
2. Both lines are absolutely horrible.
3. No WR's at all.

You are absolutely right about the line play. I am optimistic, but unless it improves, it will be a long season. Teams are obviously going to study the film of the loss today and realize that it's not to tough to beat us...just attack both lines.

My optimistic end of season record: 8-4
My likely end of season record: 6-6
Quite possible: 4-8
Worst case: 2-10

Either ND is terrible or GT is the real thing

Yeah, it a little of both. GT is good, but not as good as they've looked today. ND's bad 1st half offence gave them great field posistion almost the whole game, and they scored a TD off of a dumb pealty after ND had them stopped.

The defense just eventually got tired which allowed GT to put up a few more points than they normally would have.

That was plain disgusting and embarrasing. There may be some things to take away from this game that are positive, but let's not try to polish this terd of a game.

I dont care if Clausen played against the 2nd string team. He had the best looking passes. Our lines are bad, didnt think they would from last year, but wow.

Also, why didnt weis have DJ hord and Kamara out there in the first half? Their our biggest WR's. Weis and the Lines lost us this game. Pathetic.

ND hasn't had great O-Lines since Joe Moore or whatever that old guys name was. It's way too early to know this year. Blocking was horrible, blitz pickup stunk, play calling was questionable at times. That said, I saw *some* positives. I think Clausen starts from here on out as well. It was garbage time and 2nd string D, but he looked poised and confident.

I disagree....the secondary still sucks (just wait until the USC game, you'll see). The only reason they didn't look bad today was because they weren't really tested. The run defense was pretty good when they were fresh. Not alot of pressure on the QB though.

Yes that was phacking terrible, Defense has taken big steps, but if they're on the field the whole game, it's gonna be a long friggin' season

I bet it's Sharpley....Claussen didn't face the same pressure either Jones or Sharpley did. Don't think there's any way he'd have been just as poised against the starters....he'd not have had anywhere near the time to throw that he did against the backups. This team ain't winning no NC so there's no point in throwing JC in there so soon. If they get waxed again next, bring him in earlier and get him some more work....then a start vs Michigan.

Once again, thank Ty willingham for his superb recruiting classes. I hope Weis gets his Lines shaped up because if he doesnt, then I see us loosing every game untill the last 4.

Once again, I agree with Junkhead, Clausen should start from here on out, do a BQ and get him the snaps early, considering we can no longer red-shirt him, if we would have done that with Quinn he might still be our QB

I don't see how you can say that I thought the coverage was pretty good certainly above adverage. There's no need to be so negative before you even have a chance to really see them in action.

Everybody just needs to calm down, this was one game (The seaon opener mind you) against a good team with a very good defense in a rebuilding year. ND will hit some bumps in the road this year, and probably one or two next year as well, but there is a big light at the end of the tunnel.

It doesnt matter with the Oline. Mind as well get him in their as the starter. Hes a much better QB than Jones and about the same as Sharpley. Jones is NOT a QB, he needs to be moved to WR. Give Clausen two TE sets with a FB or big RB to help pick up the blitzes. Hes accurate and has some zip on the ball. If we dont start him this year, then he might transfer where someone WILL start him.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG Season!

I just didn't understand the playcalling....it looked like we had no plan other than to run the ball and once in a while call a pass with no intention other than having DJ run it. It seemed like there was no game plan at all.....and no adjustment when it was obvious that we were headed nowhere.

Hopefully PSU has their heads in the clouds!

trying to stay calm here and not trying to be a downer but with the schedule coming up and by the looks of today who can we beat? MSU? maybe? Lookin like 1-7 is a real possibility. Not trying to troll or seem like im giving up cause i'll always be Irish but just from some of the fundamentals missing in that game its lookin like a long year ahead of us.

Also i hope this doesnt sour soem recruits on ND

I think GT spent more time in our backfield than our qb's did. We need to work on the line big time. DJ didn't get throw a pass the first 3 possesions. It was rough.
