not to open up a can of worms, but there is huge thread on carlton thomas, asking the same thing i was last night.how come not more big time offers, and no offers from the big 3? is he really that good or not. many people think ryan williams is a better prospect.it is over at the 4hl on irish illustrated for anyone with a membership.

my question about thomas is how come no offers from fla.,miami, and fsu? he really only has 4 offers from the big boys - usc,nd,georgia, and auburn.

as i said he has offers from ONLY 4 BIG TIME PROGRAMS! HOW COME NOT MORE BIG TIME PROGRAMS HAVE OFFERED?

i'am justing wondering why the big 3 fl.,miami, and fsu haven't offered? is that alright with you?

Another Rockne post...i'am not questioning the staff or thomas's ability! i hope we land him? i 'am curious why no interest from the big 3? this is the last i am gonna say on this.

I think that the original question was just fine...I think what got everyone's "Irish" up was how you were speaking to people. Like what was said last night, we don't know the kid personally so how can we speak for the kid and who is offering him. We have no clue... We didn't have an answer to your question and you went all PMS on everyone...That's why you got the reaction you got.

Out of the top 35 RBs in this class (at least according to Scout, which is the easiest to sort), 23 of those RBs didn't get an offer from Miami, FSU or Florida.

The bottom line is that there are limited scholarships to give, and you can't start throwing them out like candy (although Florida is trying hard).

The fact that he didn't get an offer from those three is meaningless. What is important is that CW gave him an offer, which is good enough for me. Given the fact that we only gave out three offers to RBs on that top 35 list, tells me that the staff thinks that CT is a quality back. And, if there is a RB in this class (which is not a position of need), they are willing for it to be him.

I admit I've been back and forth, and back and forth with who I prefer as the runningback for this year. First, I was real high on Ryan Williams, then I started liking Carlton Thomas more, then back to Williams, and now I'm on the Thomas bandwaggon again. I agree with what I hear about him being the different type of back we need now since we have only one home run hitter with Armando Allen. I didn't agree with the "blazing" speed he was labeled as having though. Listed with a 4.6 time at Rivals, 4.5 on Scout, just doesn't spell "blazing". So, that's why I was first a fan of Williams because he has legitimate 4.5 speed, and also the better all around back. Now, with Thomas going to a camp at Auburn and self reporting that his fastest 40 time was 4.44, that's why I want him to be the back in this years class. I'd say he runs a solid 4.5 regularly, and combine that with his shiftiness and great vision he really is a true home run threat.

---------To me from the beginning I've been a CT or bust kinda guy. Unless he's a game breaker i don't really want an RB.

There seems to be conflicting information on how Thomas's visit to Florida went. Some are saying that it was great, that he loved the coaches and they're definitely in his top three, and so on, while a Florida poster on BuckeyePlanet is saying that he didn't like the visit, and that tO$U is his leader. In any case I guess that doesn't look all that good for us, right?

-----You mean Lamaar Thomas? Carlton Thomas was not at Florida, it was Lamaar.

Good catch. I thought that it didn't sound right CT has had us at the top of the list and OSU/UF would have come out of no where. In fact, neither has offered him.

Damn, thanks. Sorry. My stupid, stupid bad.

P.S. I feel a little better knowing that I'm not the only recruitnik wannabe who made that mistake.

I don't know if this was posted or not, but his ranking was updated over at scouts to #13. His old ranking was #31. I know rankings don't always mean all that much, but I thought I remember reading somewhere that CW thought he was the best RB they had seen this year on film. I could be mistaken though.

Go Irish!!!

From IUB:

CT has announced that he will definitely be making Official Visits to ND, UGA, & WVU. He plans to take all 5 Officials, the other two likely possibilities are Clemson & Auburn. No dates set in stone for any of the visits yet, but CT is saying that he will make his decision shortly after his last Official Visit.

And from IUB again:

CT re-iterated his Top 5 as listed above. ND is either one or two on his list, does not want to say exactly where because he does not want other schools to stop recruiting him yet. He also did not name the other school that is either 1 or 2 on his list, but did mention ND. Not sure what to make of that tact.

Well, as long as he's interested, I would love for him to make a trip to South Bend. I'm not overly worried as to who else is in his top 2, I think he ends up Irish!!

IUB says he's trying to move up his visit to the GT game. That can't be a bad sign.
