Williams may commit in early August when he visits with his mom, so that would take the running back spot. I also don't see us taking two more OL so it would probably be TR or Patchan, but probably not both. If we get Sabino, and 2 WR that would put us at 24 and I think we would be done.

Yeah, I forgot about Ryan visiting this month with his mom. If we don't land either Patchan, or TR, do we make a big push for Kenny Page, or do we just hold onto the scholly for someone else or even next year? I'm also in the middle on Floyd, I mean, I just think he could either way, us or OSU. If he were that enamored with us, then he would have hopped on the Bus already, JMO. As a skill position though, he may just want the love and attention WR's like to have!!

I know he's probably been cleared at UNC

This is nitpicking, so I'm prepared to be yelled at, buuutt: How do we know we know if he would be cleared at UNC? Though it pains me mightily to say it, UNC is a very good academic institution. Are you simply assuming that because ND cleared him, UNC would as well? I realize that you said probably rather than stating definitively that he would ( a distinction I wish others on various boards would begin to use), but I was wondering if his grades and test scores are so strong that this would seem a foregone conclusion. Or is it perhaps his offer from another great academic institution in the state of NC? Hmmm?

If I had to guess I would think that is is an assumptioned based on the fact that he has not only been cleared by ND, but he also qualifies for EE at ND. So it's quite logical to make the assumption that if he qualifies for EE at ND, then UNC could find a way to get him in if they wanted too.

Gipper, you're dead on in why I was assuming UNC would have cleared him for EE. I mean, if ND has done it already, why wouldn't Carolina? While Carolina is a fine learning institution, it's not ND, and while that sounds as arrogant as it is, that's the truth. I really hope we end up with his commitment in Nov.

interesting atricle on Sabino.....looks like his visit wasn't as amazing as we thought it was for him

Could mean anything, or it could mean nothing at all. There are a lot of people who have said that he's very interested in us and he could have said that to downplay how much he likes us, or it could be that he didn't like what he saw up in South Bend. Who knows, and for now, it's all speculative :crap:

"Southern Cal, North Carolina, and Ohio State, they're probably on my list right now, but I'm trying to decide the last two."

"The list includes schools national powerhouses such as Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, Southern Cal, LSU, and Auburn, Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Georgia, NC State, and Duke". Did I miss something here or have I been sleeping for the past few years? When has Duke EVER been a football "powerhouse"?

You guys have to stop worrying his still has high interest in us, you just have to wait for it to pan out.

There was a period after Auburn. The article reads like this:

The list includes schools national powerhouses such as Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, Southern Cal, LSU, and Auburn. Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Georgia, NC State, and Duke are also among Sabino's numerous offers.

Yeah, but you have to remember that these are the guys who continually denied that ND was in the mix for Gary Gray untill the proof was too hard to ignor.

However from everything I've heard it doesn't look as good as most once thought and I'm starting to wonder if the reports from Sabino and his coach after the visit were just a courtesty lip service rather than real opinions and thoughts.

Well from the direct quote, ND probably isn't in his Top 3. Unless he was misquoted, this is fairly definitive proof that he's a bit of a longshot.

according to the GT message boards, they have been calling him a "GT lock" for a couple months. Way too early yet. He won't be making a decision any time soon

Per IUB:

Sabino has reportedly ruled out ND as a potential school for him to attend. Ohio State, Florida, Miami, Georgia Tech, Tennessee are apparently still in the mix as well a few other schools. Don't be surprised if USC is one of the few other schools as Sabino has often talked about visiting USC. Notice that UNC may have been kicked to the curb as well. Latest trend is that Sabino is going to stay close to home and end up at the U. Time will tell.

Well, that SUCKS.

Rivals is now reporting the same thing on their front page, btw. Wonder what happened to turn him off?

That's a damn good question. He had been high on CB, what went wrong with his recruiting? Maybe he didn't like South Bend because it's a small town and ND is a small school, who knows. But you're correct: It does suck.

Yeah it really bites, but as much as I liked Sabino he would've just been the iceing on the cake since ND already grabbed quite a few LBs to fill their need at the position. I figured it'd come down to a UNC/Miami battle if ND was out, so it would really suprise me if UNC was out as well.

Per IUB, his top three are now the "unholy triumvirate" (tOSU, USC, and the Gay-turds), and he is also considering Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, LSU and Miami.

Farewell, Etienne, we knew ye well.

actually, I feel I didn't know him at all. Those top 3 are not the 3 I would think of going by his past statements about the "importance of education" on his decision.

Another recruit blowing smoke about education.

bye bye sabino

Yeah, I almost said "we thought we knew you", but it didn't sound quite as poetic.

Having said that, from what I've seen of his situation (which isn't much, so take this FWIW), it seems less like blowing smoke (i.e., a Beal-type situation) than an excited and impressionable kid just getting swept away by the various tides: I mean, us and UNC, then Miami, and now the triumvirate? When he pulls a Chris Little and decides to decommit from whomever he chooses first and join the Irish, I hope we have the good sense to tell him thank but no thanks. ;)

At least he didn't disrespect ND in any way. If he wants to the typical schools that he has listed that's fine. It's just that usually the kids that choose those schools go about it so unclassy (see Beal.) As long as not one ND slam comes out of his mouth I am fine with it.

I don't mind where he goes...but to say that education is important and choose those three schools as your top ones? Come on, be serious.
