I think there were better teams to drop, the BYU's, Pitt's, those guys, not our rivals like UM and another team a lot of domers hate MSU...

No! I live in Michigan and I love the Rivalries. ND v. Michigan is a great rivalry and it's a shame the won't be playing! Plus it's closer for me to go to.

I say no, I love that we are adding OU, but I'd rather we keep UM and still play OU. Its kind of laughable that we have to drop one big team in order to add another, and it seems we have to drop a middle tier team in MSU to play a similar team of the same caliber in ASU. I love the barnstorming idea, but this isn't barnstorming IMO, its more of talking a stroll along a nice country road.

Why not welcome change

I love to see change, I just don't see why we have to drop the second best team on our schedule to get it. I would prefer dropping Stanford or one of the Big East team we will have to play and add OU or Bama. Or if we could drop one of the Mountain West teams that we got locked into playing, like SDSU, but UM is one of the best teams we play, whatever happened to ND always having one of the toughest schedules in the country.

A change can be refreshing. It's only for 2 years, so not a big deal to me. I would rather see not playing those two for a 2-yr. stint as opposed to Navy (longest running series) and USC.

I'm all for it!!!

but it really pissed me off today when Cowheard called ND cowards for "ducking" real opponents... never ONCE mentioned ASU of OU but stated how pussy we are for dropping UM for "McAle's Navy"...

he even had the nerve to state that UCLA, Purdue, MSU and others SOUND good on paper but are cream puff games for any real school, then turn right around and state how grand USC is for playing Nebraska, Arkansas and Hawaii...

WTF!?!?!?!

He must do that to get under people's skin. Anybody that watched college football for only half a season would know what Cowherd is irrational. It's his job to talk like an idiot and then have someone come on the air rantin' and slobberin' all over themselves to make a point only to be hung up on.

you should have called him ACamp and gave him the business...

The tradition lost is sad, but we could have kept Michigan and replaced another one of the odd "tough opponent games we schedule" a la, Florida St., Tennessee or Nebraska, just to mention a few. I'm all for playing a different part of the country to open up recruiting as ND is on solid grop with the midwest, so I say ok.

I would have love to play Alabama and another mid level Big 12 team, maybe Colorado or Texas A & M.

I would have but IU was at work, I have called in before when he ripped our schedule last year... he Def. uses ND for attention... he either praises to piss off tOSU and other fan bases that hate ND or hammers us to get us up in arms... rarely works for me but today he hooked me... never ONCE mentioned OU or ASU...

I've never heard of this cowherd guy but he might be finding a nice little place in second on my list of most hated people that analyze college football...

How was tradition lost? Before 1978 we played Michigan 2 times in 75 years.

MSU is a bit of a tradition lost, but we will be back to them.

Post the answer when you get it dude. This will be interesting...

Sorry to disappoint, but Coward never responded to my question which asked why he didn't mention OU & Ariz. St. as the replacements. My thought is that he is just stirring the pot and probably doesn't believe that ND's schedule got any easier.

If anything, the future OU teams may be better that the Wolverine teams that year. It will be something I will definitely compare.

When is the first OU game?

Sweet I tied things up! Yes, because more people will be able to see Notre Dame. More people who see Notre Dame = more prospects that get to see and get more familiar with Notre Dame. All for it. Plus, we're freakin' Notre Dame. We're national baby.

It wasn't really our choice to drop UM and MSU as much as it was the Big-11's.

Cowherd ripped us for dropping UM, and rightfully so. Yes he failed to mention that we've picked up OU, however, he also ripped us for dodging Bama, which we have also done. I am no fan whatsoever of KW and the job he's doing as AD. He said that there's no room on the schedule for Bama, but turns around and announces WSU on the schedule in San Antonio, WTF? He did rip big time schools for playing 1-AA's and some of the more pathetic schools in D1, and what he said about Southern Cal, was that they're playing home and homes with these teams. They're going to Ark., they're playing in Lincoln this year, however, I don't agree with the Hawaii game. We have no business having some of these teams on our schedule now and in the future. Some of these games are just not interesting to watch.

Question: Are most of you all that interested in watching us destroy San Diego St., Nevada, BYU, Duke, any of the bottom feeders in the BE? I meand c'mon, I know we don't need a BCS schedule every game of the week, but some of these games are down right pathetic, and quite frankly, not interesting. Couple that with the fact that KW has publicly stated that he wants to water down the schedule, in my mind, doesn't make ND look like a national power.

Everybody likes to cling to tradition, however, it appears that our tradition is going by the wayside with KW scheduling Cupcake St. and Candyass U. I don't mind the offsite game for alumni and fans that can't make it to South Bend, but if we're going to play the likes of WSU, KW can stick that idea right back in his rectum. When was the last time WSU was relavant? Once in the 90's, if I recall. I just don't see our history, and tradition being upheld like it should be, and furthermore, I don't feel that ND is as special or unique as it used to be. Our scheduling tactics are for all intent and purposes, just like everybody else's. I don't know about the rest of you, as for me, being just like everybody else is not for ND, and I would rather not feel that way.

I totally agree OC, its bs. I like the addition of the sooners, but dropping Michigan and adding ASU, or WSU is gay. We are ND, we should Play SC, scUM, Army, Mich St., and the like every year and every opportunity add a quality opponent, not a jabronee.

I like the fact that we're playing teams we NEVER play. Come on Oklahoma? That's pretty awesome and subbing ASU in place of MSU is a nice change of pace. I think ASU will be better than MSU in a few years as well. I don't want to drop Michigan by any means, but it'll only last what 2 years? I'll live.

We're Independent and it's good that we started acting like it. Would I like to see us schedule Bama? Absolutely, that's the #1 team I'd like to add on. But our schedule is plenty tough enough and it's very fair to have all of the top teams scheduling Florida International, Buffalo, Temple and maannnny many D-2 schools like Youngstown state, Akron and rediculous teams like that. We don't do that so what's the problem? I'd rather play a legit D-1 team like San Diego St. rather than friggen Youngstown St. like Ohio State is doing. White is slammed for everything he does, but I think he's pepping up the schedule. Pornstaches (Weinsted) recruiting classes are just starting to become upper classman and they are siiiccckkk and we have them scheduled in the future with also RU who will be very very good as well.

Why are you complaining? Oh boo hoo we're taking a 2 year break from Michigan, who's not even our biggest rival and it's the end of the world? Anyway that's my two cents and I think the changes make sense and am excited to see how we match up against teams I've never seen us play before. Remember we're INDEPENDENT and can't have the same 6 teams to play every year (THAT'S WHAT A CONFERENCE SCHEDULE DOES.)

I don't mind the ASU switch at all. MSU is horrible right now, and not really worth watching, even though they gave us all we wanted last year.

I wouldn't go so far as to call San Diego St. a legit D-1 team, hell I barely call them a D-1 team at all. Akron is in the MAC, so they at least play the Big 11 every year. I don't care at all for the scheduling of mid majors at ND. San Diego St., Nevada, BYU, teams of these nature really have no business on our schedule. They'll get a beating of the likes it will be embarassing to watch.

As for Pornstache, have you ever seen him coach? I mean, really? I'm a huge Bears fan as well as ND fan, and I got to see first hand what kind of head coach Davey boy really is. He didn't get the job done in Chitown, got ran out of Miami, after Jimmy Johnson left him with some good talent down there, and he pissed it away. No matter the talent level at Pitt, as long as he's the head coach, they'll piss all over themselves. Unitl Rutgers proves that they're more than a one hit wonder, they're no better. Sorry, but I just can't call RU power untill they start playing tougher competition in their OOC. That's also my biggest problem with WVU. They have nobody on their OOC schedule worth mentioning.

Look at our schedule as it is now, it is really no differant than if we were in a conferance. I look at it as if we're in a conferance the way our schedule looks now. Conferance teams scheule mid majors to beat the crap out of. ND fans like to think that we're better and special compared to teams in a conferance, but by looking at our upcoming schedules, looks like we're a conferance team to me.

One last thing. Do you really like the fact that our AD publicly states that he's wanting to water down our schedule? Or, the fact that we told Bama" that we have no room on our schedule, but WSU is now on our schedule? I just feel that we're good enough to play top competition anyplace, and at anytime. With the recruits that CW, and CB are bringing in, why in the hell are we afraid to play teams from around the rest of the country that are great teams? I would rather watch a great game with a traditional power than watch some blowout against a mid major that should have never been on our schedule to begin with.

I know I probably sound like a whine ass to you, but I expect better from ND. Some of the games on our upcoming schedules just don't look like they're very interesting.

Love it! Michigan loses some big time exposure for two years and we showcase our program to a whole new audience! Recruiting and dollar advantage for us both ways!
