Where's the best place to go to watch the Irish play an away game? I've been to south bend a few times but have never been to watch them play away from home.

Come to California for the Stanford game. The people are nice and in you can buy tickets at the door. This year Notre Dame comes to Los Angeles and plays UCLA which will be a great game. UCLA fans should be more civilized than USC fans. The last time I went to a USC/Notre Dame game was Carson Palmer's senior year, and let me tell you those USC fans were a bunch of drunken savages.

The Rose Bowl is in Pasadena where humans live. USC plays in South Central L.A. where man eating savages live.

Skip USC, the Coliseum is one of the worst places on earth to watch a football game. Never go to the Big House, or Spartan Stadium unless your life insurance is paid up, you are really, really drunk, or you are Aaahnold in his prime. State College is not bad, although it is an absolute zoo on Game Day. This year, PSU along with the previously mentioned Stanford and UCLA games are the only away games worth considering.

Next year at UNC & at Ty's place (if he is still there) are the only 2 palatable choices. Skip Chestnut Hill, MA at all costs.

Agreed, and don't make the mistake of forgetting where you are parked after the game too... you may never be seen again

LOL- that almost happened to me last year. If I ever go again, I'm just gonna pony up the $50 & park in the Shriners garage.

I've thought about going to neyland stadium the next time UT and ND. play but have heard that if you are a visiting fan there you are better off watching it from the couch.

I have been a season ticket holder @ UCLA for about a decade and there is nowhere, other than South Bend, where I'd rather spend a gameday. The tailgate scene, which takes place on the golf course next to the Rose Bowl, is out of this world. Good, friendly heavily intoxicated crowd!

Yeah the tailgating at the Rose Bowl is UN-REAL I was shocked when I first went... I found out shortly after that UCLA has long been considered one of the best tailgating experiences in the whole country (SEC included) for a long time now...

I personally always can't help but think what the local golfers think about their course being DESTROYED every Saturday night in the fall...

Hell no...One of the best experiences I've ever had watching the Irish on the road. Their fans remind me a lot of coming to ND for the first time... Tailgating was great as we parked right in the garage next to the stadium...everyone handing out beers and brews and food...Very nice people. But to a man that we talked to, they all said to us...
"Welcome to Tennessee"..."Glad you made the trip down"..."We're excited to play a team of Notre Dame's caliber" (we got a chuckle out of that one...especially when they play a meatgrinder SEC schedule)...Those people were great. It especially didn't hurt that we won the last game down there but it was a very enjoyable experience...Neyland Stadium is a site to behold as well. Those people are into the game from start to finish. Awesome.

Hopefully they are big time Bruins fans cause otherwise I can only imagine the anger emitting from the plaid-laiden old guys.

The Nittany crowd is not too bad. I was hoping to get some seats for that game in the Lottery, but alas to no avail, although I did get GT and the Dukies. The problem is the PSU game is the weekend after GT and I'm not sure I am going to be able to make it to both, plus eBay is getting about $250 a seat for the PSU game right now. It's a long haul for me, almost 350 miles, although it's a great ride along I84/I81/I80. I just made that trip earlier this month, and passed through Scranton/Wilkes Barre just before sunset and right after the sky had cleared up after a big T-Storm, with a huge rainbow plastered across the sky. That valley is a beautiful sight from the highway. People who have never been through Scranton/Wilkes Barre don't realize what a scenic area that is. It's a nice ride up from Wilmington as well, but if you make the trip, you ought to avoid Philly and the NE extension, or whatever they call it now, and head west towards Harrisburg first and pick up 322 towards State College, that's a great ride.

The Navy game at Ravens Stadium was pretty sweet. The pre-game festivities with all the midshipmen walking onto the field was pretty special. Alot of class.

Actually the L.A. Coliseum is in a Crip (Blue) neighborhood. You don't want to wear red because if you do you might get smoked by the Hoover Crips that live around that area.:mob:

Hell, if that isn't a selling point to the school, I don't know what would be...

I have really enjoyed my experiences in State College. But, have never been up there for a Notre Dame game. I too tried to get tickets through the lottery, but failed. Hopefully, I can get tickets from other sources (since I am so close).

I liked the Michigan/ND games too. I always enjoyed the atmosphere, and the games were always good.

I've been to Pittsburg 3 times and had a great time all three. Tennessee was fantastic, BYU was fun too.

Don't go to Purdue, OSU or Michigan.

Pitt games are fun too, but I liked them better when they were at old Pitt Stadium (right in the heart of the campus) as opposed to Heinz field. That said, I'm looking forward to 2009 (I think) when ND will play in Pittsburgh.

I was attempting to and have a couple of connections for the Penn State game this year. Was wondering if this would be a good place to take my son, or should I stick with the 4 man wrecking crew of me, my dad, HCTI and my buddy Roy?

Could not ask for nicer, more genuinely gracious people. Great time at UT.

I went to PSU a number of times when I was really young and remember it to be a good experience....I think that I saw Bear Bryant's last game with PSU.
