I'm not sure he'd have his scholarship revoked, would he? I thought Weis just said something to the effect of "if they're looking, we're looking." That doesn't necessarily mean revocation. We need some WR's on board badly, and the longer Floyd/Brown/Baldwin take, the less likely I think CW would pull a scholarship from Jeremy. Maybe a new offer though. Just my opinion.

I agree with you that I still like our chances with Jeremy.

-------With the speed this class is going, it's basically going to be the same thing. Him taking other visits means someone will hop aboard very quickly....It may not be revoked but he'll be replaced rather quickly IMO........does Holley ring a bell?

Hey guys I was just wandering what you thought about how the recent committment of Dan McCarthy would effect Jeremy Brown. Should we take him? Is there any room and has the ship sailed?

It shouldn't affect him all too much. With the way our DB class is shaping up, he would most likely be taken as a WR. What would affect him is if he took too much time making up his mind, allowing Floyd and others to fill out the class.

Brown prefers CB over WR. That may deter him but I think we sit pretty well with him.

Not quite sure why everyone hates on this kid because he's got skills and he's visiting here in a couple of weeks (If he doesn't commit on the visit he will no longer have a spot.) CB told him to come up because he doesn't want Jeremy to miss out before spots fill up. That to me sounds like we'd accpet his committment right? Yes, he's spending I think 4 or 5 days in South Bend and do you think CB won't close the deal on him? He'll most likely start at DB and still get his shot at WR. He can punt/kick return and I really would like to land him. What is everybody going to be saying when he finally does commit to ND? Welcome aboard? Not many of you even want him.

I say take all of the fast, good coverage db's we can get. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am tired of seeing ND give up big plays.

Here here IK and Akron. Someone had to say it.

If I'm neurotic about taking extra guys at any positions, its DB and OL. Maybe its because they've been such sore spots for the Irish in their own way (DB due to the horrid pass defenses we've fielded, and OL because of Ty's recruiting there), but no matter the reason why I'll be thrilled to see guys come in at either position.

Jeremy's podcast interview with Mike Frank sure won me over in a big way. Other guys may be rated higher, but I'd love to see Jeremy in blue and gold. It's a tight squeeze at this point, but so long as guys named Trevor, Steve, Etienne, and Michael don't get bumped because of him, I'm all in favor of him coming aboard. After those four, any 1-2 of Baldwin, J. Brown, R. Williams, Thomas, Forston, Patchan, and Page sure seems loverly to me.

Jeremy seems like a perfect compliment to Dan McCarthy from a return man standpoint. I'm a big proponent of getting 2 guys in each class that look to be special teams aces at the return game, and I think he's the ying to McCarthy's yang as far as fitting this class's needs.

I just realized how nice its going to be to have most of the fall/winter recruiting articles focus on getting to know the guys we've got. There won't be so many ???'s heading into signing day, so now we'll just have to twiddle our thumbs 'til then I suppose, learning more and more about the guys we've reeled in. Boy thats a nice vision, isn't it?

I'm aaaaaaalllll for this kid. I hate listening to Power Hour and listen to Mike Frank spit out that he "doesn't know" if ND will accept a commit from him. That's total bs! There's too many reasons why they should take him than why they shouldn't. The only reason not to take him is the hypothetical prospects that would lose a spot. Well, you snooze you lose. Jeremy can contribute in so many ways. I was watching the OSU vs. Miami championship on Classic and Gamble started at WR and CB and KR and PR. He played almost every single snap. To me, Brown is the same type of player as Gamble. You never pass up on athletic ability like Brown's.

Who was the last guy that we had play both ways consistently (not Thomas)? It's been a while.

When JB gets there next week for a visit, I am confident that he verbals at that time. It's the word here in Orlando.

seen that he went on a tour of visits and one of his last stops is going to be in the bend. I figured that he would be a sure fire commit once he got on campus but seen he was just going to narrow his choices down after his visits. Any thoughts on what you all think he might do?

------Blanton said he would narrow his list at the end of summer too knowing full well he was going to commit to ND during his visit as long as it wasn't terrible. Who would come out and say "Forget other teams, I haven't been to South Bend yet but it doesn't matter". He's playing it smart.

It's common for prospects to tell media that they are just about to narrow it down, but then all of the sudden commit. Kids are coached to do this. It's obvious though that Notre Dame and Florida are Brown's two top schools. He has said that he doesn't mind playing either CB or WR at Notre Dame, just wants to get on the field.

I don't think there's a lot of time for him to "narrow it down" being that we're running out of room.

Well, now there isn't really any reason for him to rush it. We know that the Notre Dame staff will accept his commitment. There's no urgency for the WR spot since we only have one on board. It was thought that he needed to hurry up because of the DB spots filling up but ND will take him anyway, so there really isn't any reason for him to make a decision right away. However, I think there's a good chance his recruitment could end once he visits on the 26th.

Jeremy was recently upgraded to a four star on Scout.

And it appears that he is stopping in Chapel Hill to check things out. Or at the very least, giving it consideration. Scouts little bit of info, ( I'm not a paying customer) had something about UNC, so I have no clue what it has to say.

Anyone has the feeling Brown might not commit when he makes his visit...seems like he is looking around a llittle more than before..

I will admit that I'm not taking anything to the bank with Jeremy. I think he'd pull the trigger if he felt the vibe he's looking for, but after the way he spoke with Mike Frank, I got the feeling he's pretty interested in seeing the game day atmosphere of the school he's going to. Not sure how big of a factor that actually is, but I guess we'll know in about 2 weeks or so.

Is it true now we're bringing him in primarily as a WR?
I doubt it's true. From what I've seen as a WR he's not very impressive. He's solid but I don't see Weis taking him over Floyd or Baldwin. I think he's a CB recruit that will be given a shot at WR at some point.

if we could sign him up and put him as a CB only, we'd have about 4 all americans at DB... defense wins championships, who would have thought that ND would have such power on the defense side...

Yeah, he'll get a shot at both spots if he comes on board. From the film I''ve seen I really like him at WR. He's got good hands, good moves, and break away speed.

While I like the talent that we've accumulated, I wouldn't give them AA status quite yet. Some haven't played a down of college football, so let's just wait and see what they can really do against top flight talent. (USC, Michigan, BCS bowl opponent) then I'll be ready to annoint them.
