B&G, and Rivals both now have him listed as a verbal, as well as a story on WNDU.com.

I think the major reason that some sites have been slow to report it is because Johnson's family is on vacation in Canada and won't be able to be reached untill they return home. At least that's what the story on WNDU.com states.

This is a huge pick-up and I think it ends ND's DL recruiting for this year. Now hopefully we'll get some good news soon about Floyd, McCarthy, and J.Brown.

Honestly, if I thought about a dream scenario for DL recruiting, it would have gone like this:

"Well, if we want to get two quick ones on board, I'd offer Brandon Newman and Sean Cwynar." CHECK.

"To get a dream NT, I'd go with Omar Hunter." CHECK

"My ideal DE would be Ethan Johnson - he's got some kind of first step, love 'em." CHECK

"And to round it off, I'll take Marcus Forston, just for kicks." BRICK - Thats the unfathomable daydream pick - Hafis Williams ain't half bad.

But seriously, I just laid out my IDEAL 5 gets. We're talking head in the clouds daydream - and we got 4 of them. Thats astonishing, for a team that couldn't beg Will Blackwell to give us a sniff.

Both EJ & Floyd are 5 stars on Scout, while they are both high 4 stars on Rivals. Both EJ & Floyd have always been highly ranked by Scout. When they first published their Scout 100 this year EJ was #28 and Floyd was #33 which put them both just beyond the range of their initial list of 25 5 stars. When they recently re-published the list and added the number of 5 stars to 40, both became Scout 5 star recruits. EJ is currently #24 on the Scout 100, and Floyd is #30.

Ethan Johnson was born to be a defensive end in the 3-4 defense. When you read the various discussions about him there is debate whether he is a defensive end or a defensive tackle. In the Notre Dame defense he’ll be a defensive end. His game suits this position perfectly.

As I walked toward the left field fence at Marian High School in Mishawaka, Ind., I wanted to see what kind of reaction I could get out of Weis, who sat in his easy chair next to his right-hand man, Nick Mainieri, while taking in the action on our baseball field.

"So you're telling me Ethan Johnson and Jamoris Slaughter have committed to Notre Dame?" I said to the person on the other end of my cell phone, loud enough so Weis could hear me.

That's when I got the smirk from Weis.

------GET IT WHILE THE GETTIN'S GOOD, SCOUT WILL ONLY BE FREE FOR A LITTLE BIT LONGER. A great article about Ethan Johnsons committment. Sounds like Weis was the big reason here, CB couldn't text him like he can other recruits so yeah Weis snags one here. It's a suprise since I forgot we had any other recruiters on this staff lol. We have a two-headed monster recruiting force! but we already knew this...EJ is definently an ND kid.

How hasn't the Rivals staff added him to the team rankings yet. It's kind of pathetic.

Exactly! Last year it only took a few days. I'm wondering how much that will boost ND's total points. Could it propel us into 2nd or 1st? Perhaps if they had Johnson a 5 star like he should be.

"He's one of the more dynamic defensive linemen in the country. There aren't many better than him. I would say he ranks right at the top with about three or four other guys as the best in the nation."

-----I guess thats another 5 star for Lemming lol. His rankings aren't THAT bad though if you really look at his top 100 over the years.

It would be even more refreshing if you attributed your ideas ... Unless you're Pete Sampson or psychically connected to him or something.

It's common for top prospects to talk about the importance of academics. Count Ethan Johnson among the few that actually mean it...

Am I missing something here, or is there a reason there is a bit of unnecessary posting.

I find it odd that anyone would be surprised that more than one person might be of the opinion that Ethan Johnson's apparent emphasis on academics is a refreshing change of pace.

Just because someone's opinion coincides with another's doesn't mean they're trying to pass it off as their own.

Good Lord......what's up with everyone messing with people. I had to check and make sure I wasn't on Buckeye Planet by accident.

Apparently, the loss of SLH has made everyone take their aggressions out on each other.
