I think we'd be more amped if there weren't crazy mad rumors flying around. Both McCarthy and Johnson have rumors - old and new - circulating around them, so oddly enough those detract attention from the guys we've got on board. Plus Slaughter's verbal was pretty much expected by many here, so it doesn't have quite the sparkle other recruits do.
That said, he's a great addition. I love seeing these corner recruits that are 6'0" and taller. After seeing the USC receivers that look more like Redwoods than people (Dwyane Jarrett, Mike Williams, Fred Turner, etc), I like seeing our recruiting adapt to our opponent's size.
And the toughness thing confuses me too. Maybe there is some film on him doing the equivalent of "gator arms" on defense, I dunno. But what I've seen shows a ferocity for hitting that I haven't seen from any other ND prospect. These Georgia boys we're getting are somethin' fierce.
