Where is big Sam Young at?

Where is big Sam Young at?

I thought I read somewhere here on the board on elsewhere that it looked as though Sam Young was impressing everyone and he was going to knock down the RT spot?

Maybe they mean later in the year, but it sounded to me like a serious bet he would be starting since he's a monster.

Anyone that can help and shed some light...greatly appreciated.

P.S. Look out Georgia Tech...first step to a National Championship goes through you. As Stone Cold would say, "I'm gonna stomp a mudhole in you and walk it dry".

Per UND.com CW interview, Sam Young is listed as a starter.

Per Charlie on UND.com

Talley beat out Frome, but both will play.

Right now Renkes beat out Burkhart for the kick-off duty.

Young is the lone freshman starter....but...

in the 2 deep are:

T Smith
D Walls
R McNiel
M Prince
Olsen
Ryan
G West
Burkhart

Fellas, fellas, fellas.......with all due respect, just link to the actual list.

Irish9, you're header there doesn't exactly inspire confidence in it's accuracy.
I'd rather see the official Notre Dame press release.

I guess all the freshman QB lovers are shocked. I know Weis said that they still have a chance, but I dont think the QB order will change until next spring. I didnt think the incoming freshman would over take Sharpley and I doubt it will happen next year as well.

FYI - Weis said that Frazer and Jones were gonna be on the bus to Georgia for week 1.

Yeah thanks Ive watched the press conference but that means nothing. All that means is that he hasnt chosen 3rd string yet and wants to keep it competitive between the two freshman. So they can be on the bus it doesnt affect Quinn or Sharpley.
Once the season officially starts 1st string QB gets 70-80% of snaps and the rest go to 2nd string. You dont have time to split the remaining 20-30% of the snaps among three QBs. The others are working scout team and barring poor performance from Sharpley or injury of the first two strings thats usually where they stay until next season..

Does anyone really care who is going to hand the ball off during mop up time when Quinn gets yanked because they're up by four touchdowns?

Honestly. Evan Sharpley better practice his handoffs.

Talley starting over Frome makes sense, Frome was more fundamentally sound last year, but I think Talley has much more of an upside.

To be fair, he posted his guess well before the official list was released.

I don't think many here are shocked. Most expected Sharpley to win the backup role. Next year is a long way off. Though any experience he gets this year will only help his development for the future.

Jigg's right. He'll hand off a lot. The real benefit for him will be actually taking snaps in ND's offense during practice. The others will play for Michigan, USC, etc. this season.

Oh...OK. But why guess moments before the official is actually released. No biggie.

Only if he has learned how to fire off the ball. He must have improved to be named the #1.

BTW, Kudos to the most under-hyped, least talked about of all the 2006 prospects,
John Ryan. Play well young man.
Also, Leo Ferrine has fallen down the chart somewhat surprisingly.

Yes I think everybody that cares about the teams success should care. Second string is one play away from being first string. SO does it matter, Hell yes it does.

Like I said earlier in practice once the season starts there are only so many snaps to go around in practice. If you are not 1st or 2nd string you are not getting in unless with the scout team (thean your running the other teams plays for the starting defense). So does it matter who is 2nd string handing off the ball when up "four touchdowns", you better believe it. Anybody ever heard of Kevin McDougal????????????

Wrong. there was a thread a month back that had Frazier and Jones fighting for second and then in the same thread had Clausen jumping these guys plus Sharpley to start the following year.
I believe there were ony 2 maybe 3 people that actually made sense and went with the experience rather than HS recruiting hype.

You mean this thread? http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10004&highlight=backup

Where Sharpley got twice as many votes as the next guy?
