He's coached at Purdue, and then was with Mack Brown at North Carolina (where he was recruiting coordinator, special teams coach, and tight ends coach), and then at Texas where he was tight end coach (but not recruiting coordinator). His biggest recruiting claim to fame is probably supposedly recruiting Vince Young.

--------Vince Young is a great get, but he was born and raised in Texas so I assume it wasn't like pulling teeth to get him there.

Texas getting a kid from Texas is not that big a of a get. I would not worry too much about him.

Brewster one of the best recruiters ever? That might be overstating it. I think he would still have something to prove on that front.

Well, ok. I guess it's all just one's opinion anyway, but it seems to be a gereral concensus from the guys at Irish Eyes (MF & JB), and some of the Rivals national guys that he is one of the best recruiters in recent history.

Brewster made it a point to meet personally with every high school varsity coach in MN. He is getting coaches involved and getting the state and it's alum excited. He's actually a terrific public speaker. The more time Brewster spends with M Floyd, the worse it is.

Saying all of that, I still think Floyd goes to ND but I don't think it's a slamdunk and the Irish might just take the next two wr's that want to commit.

I never even heard of this guy before he got the job. I would think that he would need to get some W's and have some in-state recruits to begin to believe that Minnesota is going in the right direction.

Also, I would think that recruits would want to win as well be in a system where they can do well. Our system is proven and I don't know what they run over there but if you look at our WR stats over the past 2 yrs, well...

Schiano did that when he first got to RU and it didn't do much until he started winning. So, IMO until he starts winning there he won't get players like Floyd.

Yeah, but then again at this time last year I bet not too many people thought that Tez, Benn, and almost Hughes would end up at Illinois.

"The state's top high school football recruit, wide receiver Michael Floyd from Cretin-Derham Hall, plans to make an unofficial - and important - visit to the Gophers June 12 for the first time with his mother, Theresa."

I think that this will play out like many of the ND vs. local school matchups (where ND was in play early). In this case, Floyd has always had ND at the top of his list. I have a feeling that he is looking to take some of the local pressure off himself.

It's not like he's just said to be a lean. He said in an interview on another team's scout site that Notre Dame leads and he loves what coach Weis is doing. You guys are just being too damn impatient. Just because a kid doesn't decide immediately doesn't mean he's cooled on ND. That's like saying Jamoris Slaughter is cooling on ND because it's been a few days since he said ND leads and he still hasn't committed. You guys just need to quit spazzing out.

Yes, patience. None of the WR's on ND's board right now are near a decision. That's not any indication as to where they are leaning. That is simply their timetable. Relax, folks. We're only about 1/3 of the way through this recruiting cycle. Don't start to panic on WR unless late December rolls around the we're still stuck at 1.

I agree and I am still in the camp of believers that Floyd has an ND schollie available even if he waits until NSD. You can talk up Butler and Odoms all you want, but Floyd was the best and most likely ND WR prospect long before anyone could even receive an Official Offer, and he still is.

In the end I think Floyd will be Irish I don't see Charlie letting this one slip. I think he'll be Irish. The good news is that he's coming to the summer camp and he'll see the campus for the millionth time and hopefully COMMIT!!!!! But if he doesn't just give him time and before you know it he'll be Irish. He's a heavy Irish lead right now.

I was dozing off last night aftera long work schedule when I had a daydream of ND beating Florida for a NC.
It was a fuzzy dream . But I kept seeing "video clips" of Floyd catching TD's and Golden Tate scoring on a reverse. Then both of them being interviewed after the game. No idea who the QB was though. Just the two of them holding up the index finger. "Number 1 !!!"
I know this is meaningless, but man was I in a good mood when I woke up.

I'll bet you could even understand what Floyd and Tate were saying when they were interviewed as opposed to the interviews of the Gator players after they won the NC. I still have not figured out what they were saying, probably because they were speaking at a higher level due to that great Florida education the Cockwad is always talking about.  Yep, that deserves double rolleyes.

I love that we beat out Michigan for Omar Hunter's services this week.

But it would hurt TREMENDOUSLY if UM beat us out for Floyd's, especially after we've been linked to him for so long. I'm not going to gloat about Hunter, because it could come back and bite us in the ass later this year.

Katz, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the UM you are talking about is no worry at all for ND, it's the UM that is further west that we should be concerned with, that, and the potential effect of a Gainesville bbq.
