I have heard that charlie has been in morgantown wv learning about the spread. Interesting if true. Could we see a tebow/ leak scenario with clausen-sharpley-DJ?

I personally dont care what offense he runs, or how he does it aslong as we win.

This could be interesting...

He might be going there to get some inspiration for more creative plays, but I doubt he would start running the spread. He brings a pro-style offense; the spread is nothing more than an option, which we have been trying to get away from. As far as I can tell, he has been recruiting players that would produce in a pro-style offense, the spread is baloney it only helps you in college (as a QB).

It could be one more set of plays in Weis's play book.

--------I agree if that is even true, that he would just be utilizing another 1 of ND's talents in Dj. Would be nice to see Clausen under center and then out of nowhere Dj comes in and runs some sick spread option, could steal a couple of games in the beginning. Add that with our new defense and the first few games the opossing team won't know what to do.

That's an excellent point. With ND being a college team and all, it might be of some use this season

I am pretty sure that the rumor is absolutely true, and that Weis did in fact meet with Rodriguez.

I believe last year, Weis said that he would only go to Pro teams to talk strategy and not go to other college programs. That is why I doubt this story of him going to WVU. I could be wrong. Anyone? Go Irish!

Plus, I thought Rodriquez hated Notre Dame.

Sorry, I forgot to explain it better. If Weis is selling his offense as a better and faster route to get to the pros, then it would not make sense to use a formation that wouldn't help in the pros, would it?

Oh for Christ sakes...are you all out of your friggin' minds???

Get a grip...

They were exchanging Apple Pie recipes. Charlie knows how to crimp the crust oh so right and Rod just wanted a few pointers. I think that Charlie's convinced Rodriguez to host a Pampered Chef party as well.

I friggin' hate newbie posts.

I definitly wouldnt mind a 2 qb system. When Weis announces the started, for example he says clausen. Teams prepare to play how they would play against his type of qb. Clausen starts the first play, but then they bring in DD and he does an option. I would love to see ND run an offence like that, but if they dont i could care less.

Weis has said he will not have his QB run the option. He does not want to do anything that will increase their risk of getting hurt. Weis will not have a 2 QB system.

I thought weis's objective was to win football games, and if running a spread option gives him the best chance, i think he would. I am not saying he is going too by any means. I dont think he is. But IF he was there. he was there for a reason. hes brilliant on the offensive side of the ball and making a pro-style/spread hybrid would be awesome.

Again I am not saying he is. Just food for thought.

Newbie? lol . I heard a rumor and thought id bring it up. thats what this forum is for. Get a grip.

I would think that if Weis was at WVU "learning" some offense, he would also have to give up something from his playbook. He's obviously not going to be able to help them on the defensive side of the ball. That along with him saying that he wouldn't go to other college programs, I don't think he was at a strategy session at WVU. Just my opinion. Go Irish!

If he was there, I would think there is a good reason for the visit. I think the spread offense isn't a very good offense to run full time, once defenses start gearing for it, it will go the way of the run and shoot, but it would be good for running trick plays especially when you can put playmakers on the field like Tate, Allen and DD at the same time.

Exactly. We have 3 qb's at this point. 2 who run pro style, and one being a dual threat. Nobody said ND is going to run the spread full time, but CW wants to win, and I think just for this season, we're going to have to try and win any way we can. And with all these comments saying that CW is saying he'll never do this and never do that. How often does Charlie tell the media what he's really going to do? Rarely, if ever. He enjoys leaving everybody in the dark, or pointing people in one direction and going the other.
