This was on another free board so I pasted it here:

Thanks to all who helped me out on the recommendations. I know Brandon and his mom are really looking forward to the trip and I know some of you have been perturbed that Brandon has not given a commitment ,but I think the fact that he is coming on his own dime for the third time should show you how much Notre Dame means to him.

I have said this before but I have been truly impressed with the first class way that the Notre Dame coaching staff has recruited Brandon and built a relationship with his coach (me).

Thanks again for your recommendations.

some very encouraging words from the coach and I think he commits this weekend!

Yeah his coach has been saying all along how much Newman loves ND and is favoring us heavily. He just kept repeating how to lay off and it's a big decision, but ND fans would be happy in the end.

-------These are quotes from another post of his.

"Since it is getting late I will give you guys a little more scoop on BN. As I said ND made a school visit again on Monday as did Louisville with their head coach, Indiana, and Alabama. Indiana offered as did Alabama. Alabama thinks he would be a perfect 3 technique in their defense where teams would have to single block him. If you guys will let his recruiting play out a little bit I think ND will be very happy in the end."

"I do like the passion that you ND fans have for your football but take it easy on a kid that doesn't make decisions on hype but on what will be in his best long=term interest. The ND staff is doing a great recruiting job."

-------I think that looks even better that he got an offer from Alabama who is going to be running the 3-4, which shows Brandon is obviously a perfect nosetackle if now Weis and Saban the only 2 powers running the 3-4 have made him a priority.

If everything went as planned then Brandon spent the night at Braxton Cave's house last night, and he will be arriving on campus today to meet with the Irish coaching staff.

Will I be the only one going on the Internet every 20 minutes all weekend until Brandon pulls the trigger?

In what would have been a surprise probably only if it did not happen, Brandon Newman gave the Irish his verbal committment today. Surprise or not, it is great news for ND to have a legitimate NG for the 3-4. Brandon was one of the most heavily recruited players by the Irish this year, and CB seemed to make it his personal mission to convince Brandon that ND is the best place for him. Mission successful. Another recruiting coup for CB and CW, and more evidence that CW knew exactly what he was doing when he hired CB, and he hasn't even coached a down in a live game yet.

Congratulations to Brandon Newman & his family, and to the Notre Dame coaching staff.

Some recruits have stated that the big reason they are interested in ND is Corwin Brown. His hiring was by far more of an impact then anybody would've imagined.
]

Brandon said today after his committment that it was CB's recruiting of him that convinced him to commit to ND so early. He also said that he may have still committed to ND if CB was not recruiting him, but that the process would have taken a lot longer.

Yes, I would have to say that Corwin Brown has had a major impact on ND recruiting, especially for Defensive positions that the Irish have had a very difficult time filling in the last 10 years with elite recruits. It seems that CB has all but convinced Blanton that ND is the place for him as well. Now, he can hopefully continue that magic with Florida athletes like Forston, Sabino, Brown, and Thomas. Forston and Sabino especially, besides being enormous talents, would also be major recruiting victories for the Irish.

Don't want to go off subject just one question for IUB. I heard something somewhere that Blanton was all, but commited to ND right now. Was that just on knowledge that we all knew before or has something broke recently?

Nothing new, only bolstered by word that Blanton is visiting ND on June 18, which confirmed a lot of what the eman had to say. The 6/18 visit is supposedly for Blanton to make sure that he is fully comfortable with ND, and if so, a lot of people expect Blanton to commit on that visit. I don't think there is as much confidence as there was with Brandon Newman that Blanton will commit on his visit, but I would have to say it's pretty close.

Let me put it this way, if you look at post#66 of this thread that I posted on May 8, where I went out on a limb, for me at least, and said that Newman looked almost like a sure thing, I am pretty confident about Blanton, but not confident enough to put a similar post to that one in the Blanton thread.

Oh and BTW, I also knew when I was posting about Brandon being almost a sure thing on May 8 that I would have the opportunity to say a little prayer at the Grotto hoping that I was right, which I did. I will not have the opportunity to do the same before June 18, unless someone wants to help pay for a return visit to the Grotto. Any takers?:joke:

I got a good feeling about Goebel (no relation to the ex-nazi). While in seemingly no hurry to commit, if he does want to come here, he probably needs to do so fairly soon.

I just saw the kids film and heard about him he is a fireplug that takes up space and stuffs the run up he will definetly be a 5* when its all said and done. Welcome about Brandon. I can definetly see him starting right away at Nose Guard. I cant wait to see him on campus.

This is the biggest recruit we could've gotten. He's gonna be the finest D Linemen we've had in A LONG TIME. Since the Zorich years those where the days. I think he'll be just as good as Zorich was. He has the chance to be a 3 time First Team All-American a 2 time Outland Trophy winner and a Bronko Nagurski Award Winner and a top 10 in the Heisman. Like fellow Irish DE Ross Browner. He's gonna be a good one. I can't wait to see him play. Look out Guards and Centers here comes Brandon Newman.

I doubt it with his current offer list and his new status of a ND commit. Probably only a mid to low 4*, but I'm very happy none the less.

Forst is on campus this weekend, no news on how the visit is going. The third visitor this weekend was Andrew Sweat, not Goebel. According to the OSU recruiting rag, last week Sweat told them that he was not going to visit ND, so that may provide a clue as to where his head is, OSU may not be the lock for Sweat that Bucknut fans seem to think.

Goebel is not supposed to be at ND this weekend. According to the last Scout story on him, he is coming to campus on May 30.

That is hilarious about Sweat (about the Buckturds convincing themselves he has no interest in ND.) He must really not be confertable about going to OSU otherwise he wouldn't keep pushing his decision back. Perhaps he doesn't share Mike Brewster and OSU's "modo."

Sweat is kind of like Brandon Beal lite (sorry if I've already posted that here). First, it was ND/OSU. Then it was OSU/Florida. Then PSU came out of nowhere, and took the lead. Then OSU/ND again. I think he really want's to know for sure, but I think he's still got some seeds of doubt, because you don't travel hundreds of miles to talk to a coaching staff, and say "stop calling me, its over."
