Charlie Weis is raiding the Southeast

CW is throwing offers out so fast in Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida that I can't keep up. There will be a new Official Offer for a Orlando, FL CB as soon as I can get it together. That is in addition to the 5 other Official Offers that have been posted in the last 24 hours. Also, it appears that there are at least two other unconfirmed offers that are in the "If they are looking, we are looking category." Look for an offer for Joseph Fauria to become official soon as well. CW is taking no prisoners this year, it is an all out assualt on SEC land, PAC-10 land, anywhere and everywhere. The South has not seen the likes of a guy like Charlie Weis since Bill Sherman plowed his way through the Southland in the Civil War.

Also, ND nation is abuzz that there will be at least one new commit this weekend. Stay tuned, the CW/CB show is going to be very interesting.

ND needs to get all the recruits they can on campus over the next few weeks. The weather has been just beautiful lately, it's been clear sunny and very warm for this time of year (Oh NO, global warming must be upon us! Just kidding!). The weather was great in SB today, just a slight breese to go along with the sunny mid 70's temp, and scantily clad college ladies.

BTW if there is one this weekend I would guess it would be Flemming.

Now this is my pure speculation with no basis even in message board rumor, but I wonder if CW is doing a full court press here to really put the pressure on to get these recruits to make up their minds early. No screwing around, if you want to go to ND, make up your mind, make sure you are certain, and them come aboard, but don't wait too long because the ship is filling up fast. Don't you just love metaphors.

Even if I am close to being right, there would no doubt be slots left open for the best of the best to have more time to decide, but I'm sure CW & any other head coach would love to be in a position like Mack Brown who is usually done recruiting by the end of the summer. ND does not have the built in advantage that Texas has of being able to accomplish this easily, so maybe a new strategy has evolved. HMM?

Seems like the strategy Mack Brown uses could backfire at some point. These kids commit so early, that maybe he misreads them (they peak too early) or maybe he doesn't have room for the later bloomers. The premier athletes also like to take the trips, do the interviews, etc...so they like the recruiting process.

It would be nice to have things wrapped up a little earlier though, although we are all gonna sweat signing day from now on after last year.

Coach Weis could get half the class by the end of summer, except I think this would allow less time for some to make up their minds, especially as he adds more recruits. Kids will feel the pressure to commit while they still have an offer, much like DJ did after Frazier made his, which left out Mustain.

The Irish Army makes a cross border incursion from Georgia into South Carolina to offer Kenneth Page, the #1 rated OL in the state. Rumor is that part of the army also made a flanking maneuver across the other side of Georgia into Jacksonville to make another offer, but that as yet has not been confirmed.
