Rivals & Scout are reporting that Brandon Moore has received an offer. According to Buckeye Grove, Moore is the #3 TE, and #11 player overall in the state of Ohio. Rivals currently considers Moore to be the #1 TE in Ohio as they have Brandon listed on their 100 to Watch list for 2008. Rivals also considers Moore to be a strong Georgia lean at the present time, but Moore is not expected to commit to any school in the immediate future.

Moore’s offer from the Irish comes just days after the Buckeye Grove #1 and #2 ranked Tight Ends in Ohio verbally committed to Notre Dame & OSU. Moore becomes the 51st member of the 2008 Irish Envy Official Offer List.

Any word on if he has expressed very much interest in Notre Dame?

This offer is so new that it's probably too early to tell. It appears that the offer was extended by CW just yesterday and relates to Kyle Rudolph's committment in that ND is looking to get 2 TE's from the 2008 recruiting class and may be indicative that Blake Ayles is going to difficult to get. Moore is another guy who is attracting a lot more attention than he expected with now more than 27 offers. At one point in time he was expected to commit early to Georgia, but all of the recent offers from big time schools have changed that and he is now expected to go through the entire recruiting process. He expressed an opinion that he has to have a comfortable relationship with his recruiting coach, who for ND apparently is CB, so based on everything we have heard from other recruits, that can't hurt the Irish. He is also said to be intrigued by the mix of academics & athletics at ND, and with a 4.2 GPA that is most likely a meaningful statement this time.

This is speculation, but reading between the lines it sounds like the offer was extended because Moore did express some further interest in ND after the committment of Kyle Rudolph. Moore is almost certainly going to be ranked a Top 10 TE (possibly even Top 5) by both Rivals & Scout and he is presently more highly rated overall than Jake Stoneburner. His actual comments about the offer should give a better idea as to whether ND really has a shot at him, but for now it would seem that the Irish have as good a chance as anybody, but in a very large field of play.

Thanks for the update, IUB. This guy looks to be a top nab. Is he in the mold of a traditional TE or a hybrid?

Definitely traditional, much more in the Rudolph mode than the Stoneburner mode. He is very clear about his desire to play TE in college and mentions that the relationship with his potential position coach will be a very important factor for him in determining his final choice.

B&G has added Brandon to their offer list. This may be record time for Rivals, Scout & B&G to all list a recruit as an offer, since the offer was apparently just extended via telephone last night. Ah, the wonders of modern communication!
