Timing of Verbal Announcements

Can anyone explain the theory behind the timing of verbal announcements? I thought having Clausen verbal at the game was the absolute best possible exposure for the program. However, those others who have offers, is there any reason that they would not want them to announce now if they had made up their mind?
I understand that a majority of kids are at least going to want to announce at their schools when they can have their support systems around them, which at least to me, explains why more announcements did not come over the weekend. Are there strategy reasons to have a kid not announce a verbal?

Well, I think the theory is to keep a constant buzz going throughout the entire recruiting period, that way Notre Dame is always on the mind of potential recruits.

I still think its like I mentioned in another post.

Recruits will wait for the news of Clausen's committment to die down, and then committ.

Each recruit will want major buzz when they announce, and don't want to be overshadowed by Clausen's committment.

I wouldn't be surprised if the coaching staff isn't behind the timing to some extent. Look at Carufel last year. His silent verbal was not a well kept secret, but it still allowed for someone to put on the ND hat during the Army All American game. Charlie and his staff play the PR game very well. This is a team effort, and I suspect some recruits are already playing along.
