yup...the guy spotting all the players came into the hall and said to him..."if you're gonna be a bear...may as well be a grizzley."...Brady, for whatever reason took that as a challenge, called his agent who advised him not to do it and proceeded to put the bar up 24 times anyways. He did an interview afterwords and said his competitive juices got the better of him and he needed to do it.
AWESOME!!! I read that Quinn is not participating in the combine b/c of his knee injury. His orthopod (Dr. James Andrews, no less) recommened that he wait until the 2 Pro Days in South Bend in early & late March.
I wasn't aware that he actually injured his knee on that 60 yd jaunt in the USC game. The kid had the knee drained at halftime, put a sleeve on it & went back out to finish up. He then tweaked it again in the 1st half of the Sugar Bowl. As usual, Brady manned up & stressed that the injury was no excuse for the loss. BTW, JaMarcus Russell (aka, the greatest QB prospect EVER!) is not participating either.
For what it's worth, one NFL draft prognosticator said that looking over the recent 1st round QBs, that one common thread to success is the number of college starts. Brady had just under 50 in his 4 years, Russell only had 29. Hopefully Quinn will repeat what other experienced college QBs did in the pros. Guys like Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer & Donovan McNabb. Russell had roughly the same amount of starts as Joey Harrington, Akili Smith & Jim Drunkenmiller. This stat isn't scientific or anything, but nice too finally see some positive spin in Brady's defense.
Also, for you Browns fans, Romeo Crennel was quoted as saying that Weis told him to trade up & draft Brady Quinn w/ their 1st pick.
