He'll have to beat this guy for the crown, Osa Odighzuwa, the #1 heavyweight in the country. Oddly enough, he's going to UCLA to play football.

It'd be nice if ND could land a couple of DT's for the 2017 class. Get this kid and the kid from Bishop Gorman to decommit from Ohio St. and that would be a nice haul.

He related to the guy who just left in 2015 for the NFL? He got drafted by the Giants.

“It feels really good,” said Tuipulotu of the Irish offer. “I was surprised when they offered me. I haven’t been in a ton of contact with them. I was getting a lot of mail. I was just really surprised, but it was a great surprise.”

me to call him. I called him and we talked for a bit and he was telling me that he played at Notre Dame and in the NFL. I was pretty excited learning about his background. Then he offered me. It all happened really fast. It was great.”

Oregon, Washington, USC, Nebraska and others have already offered. However, Tuipulotu, along with his parents, couldn't help but call the Notre Dame offer "huge".

“I think it’s pretty big,” said Tuipulotu. “Notre Dame is a great program football-wise and with education. The education is really strong. It’s really huge for me.

“When I told my mom, she was really excited. She said to keep pushing and keep doing well in school. She said this would happen if I do well in school and she was right.”

“I’m talking to my parents about it,” said Tuipulotu. “We are looking into some dates to get to Notre Dame. I think we will be up there in April for the Spring Game. I think that one is the most realistic.”

“No,” responded Tuipulotu when asked if there are other offers he wants. “I’m happy with the offers I have right now. I don’t need anymore. It would be cool to get more, but I’m happy and appreciative of all the offers I have already.”

“Knowing that program and learning about the program, it’s an exciting offer to have too,” said Tuipulotu of Oregon. “I actually grew up watching UCLA and USC. I was a big fan of them when I was younger. Getting both offers would be huge. I already have the USC offer.

“I’ve talked to Washington and Oregon the most. I’ve already visited those two schools and Oregon State as well. The facilities at Oregon were pretty nice. That stood out. With Washington, the location and area is really nice. I like where the stadium is located. All three coaching staffs, I like them all.”
“The coaches say it’s my hands,” said Tuipulotu. “They say they really like how I use my hands. I think that would be the best part of my game right now. But honestly, I have a lot of area to improve and keep getting better.”

Sounds like we may have a shot, but that probably depends on how serious he is about the academics side. Hope he listens to his mother.

*Independence (Ore.) Central defensive lineman Marlon Tuipulotu moved from No. 261 to No. 217 and like we said about Bolden, that still seems way low. He’s among the most athletic tackle prospects out west and carries his 275 pounds with such ease that its hard to believe he actually weighs that much. You just don’t see many interior lineman with his kind of lateral mobility and he can stop and change direction like a player half his size. He’s a high priority recruit for most of the Pac-12 including hometown Oregon and Michigan and Notre Dame are on him hard as well.
