Things pretty much over for College Football 2006, I think we should begin to take a quick look at 2007. How will things change in with the loss of Brady Quinn, D-Walk, Shark, and others?

The Golden-Helmets start off at home against Georgia Tech, a team that took them down to the wire last season. Then they must travel to a tough Beaver Stadium, where they take on what should be a much improved Penn State team. Followed by games against both of the Michigan teams, and another Big Ten Foe: Purdue. Then the Irish travel all the way out to Cali to take on a tough UCLA team, and get BC at home.

The comes the biggest one of them all: Notre Dame versus Southern California. I'm not sure if the Irish can pull one out here, but it should be a good game...nonetheless. After that, the schedule is a breeze. Notre Dame finishes by taking on Navy, Air Force, Duke, and Stanford. Thoughts?

I don't want to get matched up in some sucker bowl. I want to play the best team and kick their a**! I predict 8 wins this coming season. The shouldn't lose to them games are over, and this coming season we will beat someone that we shouldn't. (Hopefully Michigan or USC)

Looking at the schedule, I think we have a great shot at winning 8 maybe 9 games *gasp* I think the last four games are a given. Although I always get nervous when ND plays Navy, they gotta win sometime, right? I think we beat GT since it is at home and Calvin Johnson will be nowhere in sight. Purdue and MSU will be tough games and cost me precious years on my overall lifespan, but I think ND wins. I also think that we will win 2 of the 3 games between Penn St, UCLA, and BC. I think we win at least 7 with a max of 9, although ND always does better when expectations are down.

I have stood my ground for a while in saying that anything less than 10-2 would be a HUGE disappointment in my eyes. GTech-no Calvin Johnson. PSU- no Tony Hunt. USC and Michigan seem to be the two automatic losses in most people's eyes, although I think USC is ripe for an ass-whoopin in our house, and us in the Big House has created some sweet surprises in the last 20 years. UCLA on the road a tough game, but the vibe I get on that one just feels like ND-Texas in '96.

When is the last time a team from a power conference went unranked to start the season and finished 13-0? I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...

10-2? Christ that would be a DREAM next year.

GT will be tough now that they have a QB.
PSU? No Tony Hunt? So what? He does not define that team.
UCLA will be tough as well. Strong D could overwhelm all our new guys on O.

Seriously, 10-2 would be a huge overachievement for this young squad. Remember, we don't exactly KNOW what they are capable of yet, almost every position is an unknown quantity on offense, including the line. If we win HALF of GT, PSU, UCLA, BC, I think we'll have done plenty good enough thank you very much. Still, I'm not gonna argue if 10-2 does come around, and I'll also take a hit of whatever it is you got going around.

I picked 9-3:

GT - W
PSU - L
UM - L
MSU - W
PU - W
UCLA - W
BC - W
USC - L
Navy - W
Duke - W
Stanford - W

I think 2008 is when Charlie starts to beat some of those teams such as UM, USC, etc.

to say the least it will be a rebuilding year

Even 8-4 would be good in a "rebuilding year". Looking at the offensive loses, I wasn't too confident. But I can definitely see them winning 8+ with that schedule. I would be happy with that, as long as there is a bowl win at the end of the year. I don't care if it is Bob's Toliet Bowl, just win one!!

This is absolutely right. If we win two of those games and lose to SC and UM, we'll have met expectations. Anything more is great, anything less is a pretty big disappointment IMO.

I have thought about this long and hard... my expert opinon is under the opinon that all your opinon's stink...

Here's what's gonna go down... dark days lay ahead boys... I fear that in one or two games our opponent will have what it takes to come within two or three scores of us... and though it's doubtful, we might actually have to win a game late... in other words...

NC OR BUST!!!!

I just hope we are competitive, don't get blown out in any game, have some speed on the ends and see progress in the Q.B. at the end a year.

You picked ND to beat MSU??? That would be a rarity any year!

This first game against GT should be interesting. It will be tough on the QB, whoever starts, considering the type of defense the Jackets use. It will be interesting to see if the O-line has better luck picking up the blitzes this time around.

just win

just win

the irish should get their usual 8 or 9 wins next year. but until they win the big games, recruiting is going to be difficult, especially on defense. im not sure what to expect from them on either side of the ball, i just hope that we dont see a passive, reactive defense that begs teams to nickel and dime us to death, or give them time to go deep. i think its time to be aggressive (see rutgers and cincinnati) whose talent is far less than ours, but whose defense was impressive!!

ok, as I truly believe that "what thought the odds be great or small, old Notre Dame will win over all..." I think we will win every game next year.... HOWEVER, the really challenging games that I see at the moment are Michigan, USC, maybe Penn St. (I have no clue how good they'll be), UCLA, and Georgia Tech just because of all the new players, new QB, first game jitters. However, I am confident that we can win all of those if everything just works out right.

and yes, I am about as big a homer as you can get.

Wow! You guys are unreal...we will have almost all new offensive players and a NEW defense scheme with a weak front seven. I would say a successful season next year would be 8-4! Losses to Mich, USC, PSU, and an upset by either MSU or GT if not both...remember we are VERY young!!!!!! I love ND but you guys that are saying 10-2 & 13-0 take homer to a whole new level!!

as I said, I am a homer and I believe we can win every game. it doesn't mean we will, but I have hope everytime.

And MSU will not beat us next year. I'm putting that in stone right now.

9 wins? Good god, you are VERY VERY optimistic.

Just being a homer or do you really believe that?

Right now I would say 8 or 9 wins, but 10, or 7 isn't out of the relm of possibility. With a probable birth in the Gator or Cotton Bowl.
