It's happening in China now. It happened here a few decades ago. Massive growth, unbridled resource consumption, unregulated waste eventually lead to unsustainable conditions which require remediation and abatement measures. I wonder if China will continue to outpace its environment and how much time they actually have on the clock.

fun fact: in China about 6 months before Beijing Olympics back in 2008, damn near all "smog causing" (air pollution) type manufacturing was literally ordered to stop throughout the country.

I remember reading an article about how they were painting all the dirt lots green in the city to give the illusion that there was grass.

The reason I bring up the plant is because people always say that CO2 or pollution is not hurting our planet or causing it to warm. I do not want to get into a global warming discussion but it is pretty to easy to see the problem with having no regulations on factories and coal plants.
