Wondering who's planning to go if we make the playoffs? I am considering going to the semi-final game if we do.

Semi-final is played at the Orange Bowl in Miami on I December 31st.

How do you go about buying tickets for this? Tickets currently are as cheap as a ND home game and starting at $230. I'm seriously considering packing one a way just in case, because I assume they skyrocket when the teams are set in stone. If I lose $250, I lose $250. But I expect them to be about $800 once we know ND is in it or not.

Who's with me?

You know there are two different games right?

Are you saying I'd have to wait until the final ranking so I didn't end up buying to the Bama/OSU game (hypothetically)? There has to be a way to 'guarantee' your pick of games if you buy now, even if for a spike in price.

There's a thing called TeamTix. You pay a certain fee depending on the team. For ND it's $90. If ND makes the championship, you have the right to buy tickets at face value. If they dont, you lose $90. I've only seen it for the championship game, not sure if they have it for the semis.

Well let's go to Glendale then. How do I lock that in? I'd pay $90 right now for an opportunity at face value.

The fact that the semi games are on NYE is the biggest crock of shit. I personally hate NYE but I had some nice dinner reservations with the GF that are potentially ruined. These games should be on New Years Day.

Sounds awful.

You could take the next 6 weeks and alter your reservations a tad. Just a thought.

Not really. Reservations for NYE are impossible to get at nice restaurants. Plus, if ND is in it then they will almost certainly be in the 8PM game which basically ruins any dinner plans.

That's a big draw back for sure. Last year the Orange Bowl was an 8 kick off and it sucked. The committee picks the teams and ESPN picks the time, so I would think ND will be the prime time game at 8.

If ND makes the championship I will be making the trek to Glendale. I won't be going into the stadium but I will be down there

Yeah, its tough for me to skip work the last few days of the year but if we are in the Orange Bowl it will be tough to pass up.

I really don't get how these bowl tickets get distributed. I presume ND will have some accelerated lottery process. With the title game 11 days after the playoff (really only five business days between them) I imagine they have to get the commitments well before. Or maybe each of the four teams gets 1/4th of the tickets and half of them get scalped by the losers (for a nice profit no doubt).

I've seen your GF. (And you.) Don't ruin that shit ...even if it means missing the ND game.

Epitome of a rock and a hard place though.

Things are heating up with myself and an unnamed poster for this TeamTix deal for the actual NC game in Glendale. Anyone else definitely going to the game if we make it?

I checked the website for teamtix and it sounds as wiz advertised. There are different sections, but for as little as $90 you can reserve a ticket at face value IF ND makes it. If they do not, you're out $90, which is what it is.

BTW, I think this is an interesting business model and there will be so many reservations made by team's fans who do not make it, I bet they rake it in.

Why not buy tickets to both venues then sell the tickets for the game you don't go too. There is no way you would lose your money doing that. Easy money. No but seriously I don't see how you lose.

I guess I'm confused on how you can buy tickets for a big game. If I was in Miami and want to go to the orange bowl regardless of who was playing, can I buy a ticket directly to the orange bowl? If I can then I would assume you could do the same for the cotton bowl. If that is the case then just buy the tickets directly from the bowl to each game. My guess is that you cannot buy tickets this way?

Edit: After reading your original post I see that your question was where to buy them. So apparently a place like teamtix is the only way to buy them.

That sucks, I'm sorry.

I really can't think of one good reason why the NCAA (or whoever makes the decision) would want these games on NYE. NYE is for the Chic-Fil-A bowl, not the national semifinals.

Appears paying a case of beer to have windows installed has paid off!

I think all of the bowls are independent "charitable" organizations. Looking at Orange and Fiesta - about half the stadium goes to the teams with the other half available through the bowl. Fiesta has a lot of seats available right now, $250 sidelines to $85 upper endzones. Orange bowl has none available. I do not see anywhere on their sites that they have "season" ticket options necessarily but they must have some list of first dibs annual buyers they offer before the general public. I imagine they love selling tickets months in advance so they can spend the money on their "charitable" works sooner rather than later.

I say "charitable" because I recall a lot of the directors of these things make half a million bucks in their VERY part time responsibilities.

Hey now, I paid the man $1,500 cash, and bought about $200 worth of drinks food for them (2 volunteered because they wanted to visit/see the house/go out in the city).

Cotton Bowl is selling SROs for $75, only playoff tickets I see available from the primary market. God only knows how many they will be packing in those locations but that is looks like a REALLY good deal on the surface to me.

Buy Peach bowl tickets and secure the same seat and price for next year's playoff. $110 for nose bleeds, $210 for lower endzone. Seems like a lot of dough for some tickets you are probably taking a bath on this year.

Just looked it up, the SRO capacity of AT&T Stadium is 35,000. Holy hell. Think I will hold off on picking some of those up.
