Neither article you list gives any clear evidence he lied.
Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted, in a response to an inquiry from POLITICO, that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated: his application and acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
The academy has occupied a central place in Carson’s tale for years. According to a story told in Carson’s book, “Gifted Hands,” the then-17 year old was introduced in 1969 to Gen. William Westmoreland, who had just ended his command of U.S. forces in Vietnam, and the two dined together. That meeting, according to Carson’s telling, was followed by a “full scholarship” to the military academy.
West Point, however, has no record of Carson applying, much less being extended admission.
“In 1969, those who would have completed the entire process would have received their acceptance letters from the Army Adjutant General,” said Theresa Brinkerhoff, a spokeswoman for the academy. She said West Point has no records that indicate Carson even began the application process. “If he chose to pursue (the application process), then we would have records indicating such,” she said.
When presented with these facts, Carson’s campaign conceded the story was false.
“Dr. Carson was the top ROTC student in the City of Detroit,” campaign manager Barry Bennett wrote in an email to POLITICO. “In that role he was invited to meet General Westmoreland. He believes it was at a banquet. He can’t remember with specificity their brief conversation but it centered around Dr. Carson’s performance as ROTC City Executive Officer.”
“He was introduced to folks from West Point by his ROTC Supervisors,” Bennett added. “They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission.”
Carson would have needed to seek admission in order to receive an offer of free education from West Point. Also, according to West Point, there is no such thing as a “full scholarship” to the military academy, as Carson represented in his book.
The original article. You can't get a scholarship offer if you don't apply.
Ben Carson admits fabricating West Point scholarship - POLITICO
Aren't all students at West Point "on scholarship", by that meaning they do not have to pay to attend?
[this is not arguing that he didn't make up this item, just trying to remember correctly]
There are other ways in, but this is the most common, yes.You need a Senator or Congressman from your state to appoint you and it is free.
Good catch guys. Its a shame he lied.
So does this mean he's out of the contest?
Are all liars out of the contest?
So he talked to people about going to West Point and they pointed out that he would get a full ride - maybe he doesn't realize everyone gets a full ride to West Point! That would make him ignorant, not a liar. Ask him before ever considering politics and how many people would know West Point is "free"?
I have problems with the guy but I love the way everyone instantly attacks a GOP front runner and tries to frame every statement they ever made in today's context with a prism of pure truth as if any GOTCHA means they are instantly disqualified.

Its not written in the bible so Carson was unaware. (no italics)
In this very thread, Hillary has been accused of riding her husbands coat tails, treason, incompetent lawyering, national security violations, blackmail, chronic laziness, pathological lying, and murder.
There was a TON of speculation, at the time, about whether or not the Clintons had anything to do with Vince Foster's "suicide"...
C'mon, man. You even put "suicide" in quotes. That's not implying that they had a hand in Vince Foster's death?

I was responding to a tongue-in-cheek post about Clinton killing two guys with a tongue-in-cheek post of my own.
Like I said........... exaggerate much? And I hope the mods are taking note of this gross mischaracterization of my post.![]()
You guys would get along better if you stopped defending people you supposedly don't like or wouldn't vote for.
I would vote for Clinton.
Who accused Hilary of murder?
Exaggerate much?
Well, you did actually.
Edit: Jayhawk beat me to it.
