The thread devoted to anything automotive.

I saw a Ford Racing vid on Youtube and thought I'd put it in the IE car thread. I was shocked I couldn't find one so there's one now.

This is the new Ford GT that was built for one reason, to win Le Mans on the 50th anniversary of the the Ford GT 40's sweeping the podium and destroying Ferrari. Listen to that exhaust note. Pure audiocrack.

Good idea for a thread. I'm in the initial stages of planning for my hot rod. So far, the only thing for certain is a 383sbc. Not even sure what it's going in yet but an early-mid 70's Vette is what I'm leaning towards.

I sold a 1976 Vette a few years ago. It was mid restoration and I was over the whole thing. The car looked good all around at time of purchase and just needed minor restoration. Well I had the body pulled up off the frame, and it literally snapped in half. The Vette being a naturally channeled body, the bottom of the frame looked fine, the channeled section was apparently completely rusted up inside the body channel.

My first car was a 1964 Ford Falcon. All original. Slow as hell. Winter time came and I didn't have another option to drive. I was about 1/4 mile from home and came up over a hill. The car was light as it was, but over the hill all the weight came off the suspension, and it began to slide. I chased if back and forth and eventually lost it. Up the shoulder and straight in to a tree.

Do you already have the 383? I like Chevy's HT 383 crate engine. Pretty engine, 350hp - 400+ ft/lb, for $4k turn key.

One option I'd throw out there are the 6.0L truck engines, the LQ4 and LQ9's. The LQ4's are out there in big numbers out of a GM 2500 truck/vans. I've seen them go for $700 with under 20k miles. It's all iron, rebuildable and has low compression which are great for turbos. For a little more you can get an aluminum head LQ9 which is a Denali or Escalade engine. They have higher compression and more more.

I like the modern GM LQ engines for builds. Low low cost, fuel injection, computers for easy tuning, torque monsters that lets you run higher gears which equals non abysmal mpg's and the low compression lets you easily add forced induction.

Here's a great old website that explains the differences:

I didn't look closely and I thought the thread title said "Cat Lovers" and there would be nothing but ACamp posts in here.

Shelby is coming out with a 700 hp F-150. Should be fun, and probably at least $150k to partake in said fun.

Love trucks, jeeps, and sports cars.
Just picked up another f150 (91) which I'm getting ready to restore. Got two jeeps, a 2012 sahara unlimited which I'm in the process of rednecking out, and a 93 which is 90% restored and really needs just some things put back together. Hoping to complete both jeeps this winter, and get the truck done early summer.

Will post some pics of the 3 later. Chatted with some other IEers about creating a Jeep or 4x4 thread in the past but never got around to it.

Not sure what's in store next. Really want the new Jag F-Type, and can't wait to test drive the 2017 F150 raptor next year. Also considering another restoral, perhaps a Mach 1, or 75 or older full convertible k5 blazer.

I will spend megamoney if I find the right one, at the right value. Chances are though, will be smart money. One of my buddies in HS had a wasteamoney. He called me up one day, and said he just got a mustang... picked me up and I was like WTF. it could scoot though. The 2nd gen mustang should have never been allowed to happen. Shameful.

Which one?

I'm building the engine myself. For a turn key motor that's not too bad of a price but the output concerns me a little. To only get 350/400 out of a 383 is not really trying. You could accomplish that hp/tq rating for probably cheaper by building it yourself. That's assuming you already have engine hiost, engine stand, air compressor, tools and some specialty tools like a micrometer and a good Dremmel for clearancing your block for the larger crank.

Check out Blueprint engines if your looking into a crate motor, they're proven motors with great warranty for about as cheap as you can get. Their 383's have around 425/450 and have plenty of head/ cam combos.

Well it's Detroit Auto Show time...

YJ has to decide if he can afford both a SuperCrew Raptor AND the new JK Pick up this year.

...and I'm buying a Buick... hopefully.

A couple of very important automotive concepts released yesterday and today for Pebble Beach. The first was the Mercedes Maybach Coupe, the second is the Cadillac Escala. Both will be important design languages for each brand moving forward.

I never got the love for the old DB Aston's but then again, James Bond was a bad man.

When I was in HS, one friend had an Austin Healey Sprite and another had a Triumph Spitfire. Both were blasts to drive and easy to work on.

...and apparently you're 5-5 and could get in them. I had a Manco go-cart with more legroom.

Maybe I didn't need the italics come to think of it.

Just take the doors off and you'll have all the leg room your bony knees require!

I had a Spitfire for a while during college. You're right... absolute blast to drive and a great car to have in a college town.

There's some nice old British metal I'd own.

If I was short enough I'd get one of these on a budget...

Man, I hope I fit in this thing because Mama Crusader said she's dipping into her trust fund. Put the reveal up onto the big screen and the kitten was smitten.

Pretty cool car for $60k-ish

There's been a few Vettes I've liked, but overall I've always felt there was something missing. Not with this one.
