Chaffee has no business on the stage.
I like Webb and believe he would appeal to sensible Independent voters, but he seems to have zero traction with most progressives. He was a little whiny about his time for a guy who has such little support. Although, in fairness he was getting hosed a bit.
Whether you like Hillary or not (I do not, particularly), she is a smooth, polished and intelligent politician. Her gimmicky focus about being the first woman president will, unfortunately, score points with female voters. As usual she said all the right things, whether she actually believed them or not.
O'Malley may be the most rehearsed and robotic candidate since Mitt Romney.
I think Bernie raised his profile tonight with progressives of all stripes. If he s going to win, he needs to peel off minority votes from Hillary. While he may have expanded his support some tonight, I'm not sure I heard much that made much of a dent with minority voters (bonus for keeping the pandering to a minimum). He did not do particularly well on guns, but I thought he was solid on every other issue. He killed it on climate change as a moral imperative.
It is clear why Hillary and Bernie are leading the field, and short of Biden throwing in his hat it will come down to this two. Hillary will get support from most of those who already support her, and Bernie will continue to grow his support, but will it be enough in the long run? I don't know ... I hope so.
