Grandmother worked at ND and currently resides in South Bend. He visited on April 8th and seems to really like ND early. His tape for a sophomore is very good.

I feel like this may be that kid that has an Irish connection and we feel really good about early on but fail to land. Seems like there's at least one every cycle. Can't decide if it's Beal or Hunter Johnson...

Bummer, didn't know FSU was even in the picture... Thought it was between Georgia and ND, always going to be tough to pull guys out of Georgia

I suppose I should get used to it but when a kid has FSU and ND as his top schools I just have to laugh. Polar opposites at this point, I guess maybe variety is the spice of life, lol.

Really really like Beal, I thought we were in better position post II. Initial word as he wanted to commit but his mom wasn't there.

It's tough to get them out of...everywhere. But that's what ND's been doing for a century.

Yeah, I thought we were number one with possibly Georgia very close behind... I am a bit surprised by this report and he gave a pretty good review of FSU on 247 as well so the threat is real... He is also attending Friday Night Lights at OSU so you never know how that's going to go. Really hoping we can get Corey, Beal and AJ for our DE class next year

i can respect that. it's still early and there isnt a need to push it and make him regret it later. at least it should put us in the driver's seat for now.

Maybe both now...

Well...to an extent.... there are large swaths of the southeast that are just not going to be realistic areas to concentrate efforts on and have not produced a ND man. Norcross is one of the locations where that would be possible though. The staff is really trying to land one from here. I think there was a recruit from this area in the last two cycles that have not panned out even though they showed genuine interest.

Anyway, we are not gonna go into Warner-Robins, GA and pull a kid from there unless there are several things working overwhelming in NDs favor.

How times have changed. When I was in middle and high school Norcross football was a joke. Now it seems they are putting out some pretty good players.

I live in Tucker, a few miles from Norcross. Would love to start getting some ATL kids. Snyder (KanSt) believe it or not has been hitting ATL hard and has pulled some 3 and 4 star kids the last couple of years. 2 really decent prospects in 2015, which one is a pretty tough but undersized 4 star DB (Duke Shelley)

Point is, Tucker/Norcross and ATL in general is not as locked down as one would think. Yes, mostly Dawg and SEC/ACC country, but If Snyder (a team first guy) can pull some guys to Kansas, not impossible for us.

+1. Go strong and get this kid. As the post indicates, if KSU is grabbing kids, get down there and snatch some kids. Gotta have some talent in the Atlanta area.

There's a few schools that have made huge strides around the ATL area. Norcross to the north, Sandy Creek and Creekside (still waiting for Whitewater to make the jump) to the south, Tucker to the east and...not sure to the west. I haven't lived in GA for 3 years, so not sure if that's held up.

Tuitt was from Walton County IIRC so it can be done but that was not the easiest pull either lol.

He was from Monroe HS in Walton which is a cross county rival of my high school. It caused me to take notice when we landed him at ND. Not much else has come out of there so that was a fluke (but then Storm Johnson came from my high school too, so flukes all around).

While I understand the desire to just go get the kids we want out of GA, remember the people we have to fight off. We got Rochelle out and wanted to get his teammate the next year. We couldn't get a sniff after the start of his senior year. I'm not saying don't put in the effort, just make sure not to put too much stock in snagging them until they give you plenty of reason to believe that is so.

Completely agree on Tucker and Norcross. Both school pretty much came out of nowhere the last few years. And to the flip side the powerhouse school like Parkview, Chattahoochee, and Brookwood have all faded out a little. I think it has a lot to do with the hardship school transfer program. Basically recruiting big time players to said school. Buford and Chattahoochee were big on that when the program first started.

Scout Recruiting - National Signing Day Coverage, Latest Commits, Top Prospects and More Front Page

NORCROSS, Ga. — Top 2017 hybrid Robert Beal visited around 10 schools this summer. He usually keeps to himself about his trips, but he talks FSU, Georgia, and Notre Dame here...

Robert Beal may not say much about his recruitment, but it is something he put a lot of time into this summer.

Will Beal be a rush end or a stand-up linebacker on the next level? He could project as either and he could do either well. He is a lean end right now with length and athleticism. He can run, he can chase the ball, and he can really close on the ball. Needs to work on his first step and add weight and strength to be better against the run. He is most about speed and determination right now.
The four-star rush end out of Norcross (Ga.) spent a good amount of time on the road this summer visiting over 12 schools. Three of those visits went to Florida State, Georgia, and Notre Dame.
Beal does not like to say much, but those are three schools Scout has confirmed that has his interest.
Early on, the 6-foot-4, 216 pound junior named the Seminoles as his leader. Then when Georgia, the in-state school he grew up following offered, it put the Dawgs and FSU at the top. Now, Beal has backed off that, he has slowed things down, and he is now "completely open" to all schools.

FSU: "When you walk on that campus, you just get that feeling — like man, I like this school. It is like you know you are going to win when you come [to FSU]."

Georgia: "I really like them a lot — it is good for me and my family. I like the coaches and the atmosphere."

Notre Dame: "Notre Dame was fun. They keep is classy there."

Right now, Beal says his "options are open" and will commit when he is ready. He wants that "family atmosphere" in a school.

Scout currently ranks Beal No. 10 at defensive end and No. 119 overall.

The quotes shown don't make me feel like we have a real shot. Glad we are mentioned in there but seems we are a distant third.

Not feeling good about this... Seems like the FSU booster money was too much to pass up
