As some of you know, I work in the entertainment industry. A very tough but rewarding career. One of those rewards is the ability to meet and work with some really cool and talented people.
Last night, in my work on a new pilot for ABC called "Runner", I got to work with three of our boys, Darius Fleming, Robert Hughes, and Ben Koyack. Their agent is a friend of the casting people and got them on as extras to have a little fun on set.
Great guys. Got to chat with them a bit in between set ups. Had some fun and laughs.
It was a crime scene scenario and Darius was dressed as a uniformed cop. Robert and Ben we had as News reporter Cameramen. Everyone had a good time with their roles.
Their agent, David, was also there as a reporter working with Robert. At one point I walked over and started bullshitting. David said, "Patrick, let me know who screws up first." I said, "Are they in trouble?" David smiled and said, "their wallet might be. First one to screw up buys drinks." I turned to the Super Bowl winner and said, "Hands down its Darius." Everyone started laughing. Darius just smiled and gave a thumbs up. I said, "I wouldn't be smiling mate...that take was worse than you trying to tackle Denard!" They all laughed again. After a bit i walked up to Darius and shook his hand, told him i was kidding. He knew, but said, "I have an awful memory from that game." I said, "was it Denard running for a 1/4 mile or throwing for 1/4 mile?" He laughed and said "that was on the safeties!" then said, "no, that game i got juked out of my shoes by Forcier and made an ESPN worst of list. One of the worst nights of my life." I said, "don't worry buddy. you got a ring and he's hanging drywall in Grand Rapids." more laughs.
Robert had a couple quick stories about Floyd and partying in Chicago. Ben was rather quiet, but i asked him about the draft and he's looking forward to it.
Overall--killer night. I hope you will all tune in if only to watch the 4 seconds of footage of these guys if the show gets picked up.
