Auguste is 3-9 from the charity stripe....inexcusable.
After being lights out in the 1st half, Connaughton couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.
For as great as Grant is, I wish he were more aggressive on offense. He can't be this tepid in the Tourney, we need him attacking.
I mean... seems pretty clear how teams should defend Notre Dame...
Whew. Steve Vasturia MVP for this game. Kid was huge tonight.
EDIT: typed way too soon. blame me if we lose this.
Can you go into more detail on that?
Miami switched to zone in the second half and shut us down for 12 minutes straight. Other teams have given us problems playing zone D against us this year too. Like Syracuse. Pretty sure that's what Lax was talking about.
Ok. I said earlier that the zone was bothering the team in the second half and got ridiculed on here.
Got to throw it the paint or penetrate the paint against that zone.

Yeah, this is a huge problem. I'm headed to bed and don't want to get too long winded but I've seen similar flaws in multiple games now against different zones. There are lots of problems but basically:
1. It takes away what DJ/Grant do best in getting to the hoop/creating shots for others.
2. We don't have an inside player that can beat up a zone.
Brey needs to find a way to coach this team to not think so much against a zone. They play really hesitant and even when they get open looks it doesn't seem like they attack them with confidence the way they normally do. There aren't enough decisive plays in rhythm.
I'd like to see us push it more after a stop defensively if teams are going to throw zone at us. A quick outlet out to DJ or Grant and letting them get up court can create even just a quick 4 on 4 that will allow us to do something rather than pass it around the key and look confused against a zone.
