Eagles OC Pat Shurmur was the OC in STL for two years earlier in Bradford's career. Doesn't completely explain the move, but there's some familiarity with Bradford on the Eagles staff.

Harvin released. Patriots front runner to land him. As a Pats fan, this move scares the crap out of me. He's a threat to the locker room.

AJ Hawk to the Bengals.

Ok, I didn't see that yet, thanks. Thats more reasonable.

Yeah, I really think it's unlikely that Kelly goes into next season with Bradford and Sanchez as his top two QBs. When you consider all the hype about the Eagles moving up in the draft for Mariota and the fact that Todd Herremans (sp?) said that Kelly thinks that all he needs is a QB and his system for his offense to work then you have to think this move is an attempt to get move closer to where Mariota will go. Eagles also have cap space to burn at this point but I wonder what it will take to get into the top 5 now where they will likely have to move to get Mariota

I could see them moving Bradford for pick(s) and leveraging those picks to swap the Jags for their 3rd overall pick.

If they offered... say... a second and a fifth (Bradford) to swap their picks (10 overall), the Jags would be stupid to turn that down.

At this point its really Mariota or bust and I would think that GM's around the league know that and will make them pony up quite a bit for it. He's backed himself into quite the corner.

I think it's very possible that Mariota falls to 6, but the question has to be whether they think anyone is willing to trade up with one of those teams to grab him before. If Tennessee wants him there is nothing that Kelly can do since I doubt TB will trade down but if he gets past Tennessee (I think they are willing to give it a go with Mettenberger) then he likely will slide past Jacksonville (Bortles last year), Oakland (Carr) and Washington (RGIII). Will the Jets trade down with Philly is a tough question to figure out. I agree with you though that Philly will likely move up with a team in the top five

My trust in Chip has taken a beating the last couple days. I loved the Kiko for Mccoy trade but since than idk. Cant imagine us getting Bradford and his knees for Foles AND Picks

I honestly don't think that Mariota gets past 3. Tennessee might act like they want him and they are the sure fire slot for a team to get to if they want him. But we all know that the Titans need a lot more than just a QB. So both the Titans and Jacksonville are in a position to trade down to 10 and still get a guy very high on their board. I personally believe that the Titans are all in on Leonard Williams, so that's why I think Jacksonville. This is an extremely light QB class (hell, even a light FA QB market), so there are going to be a lot of suitors for Mariota. Whether it's the Eagles or not, I don't see Jacksonville making that third pick if he's available.

Yea, as were Haynesworth and Chad Johnson. Neither worked out on the field but were okay in the locker room. I trust BB, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't concern me as a Pats fan.

Bill/Tom have the magic elixir to cure questionable characters most of the time. I'd love to see Harvin here next season. Worst-case they cut him and we're scrambling to find a #3 WR.

I'm a Pats hater and I think all will be fine. Not sure if that's good or bad for ya. Lol.

My son said Adam Shefter just tweeted about Chip'S qb swap and there was no mention of trading first rounders.retty big omission or was it initially misreported? If Shefter is right this may be the worst trade in NFL history erasing the Mccoy trade.

I didn't see anywhere in the Shefty tweet about switching 1st rounders either. It does however say if Bradford isn't the started for PHI at the start of the season, they get a 2nd round pick back from STL

I haven't seen any mention of it on Espn either but it's really the only way it doesn't make Chip look like a complete idiot so I think it has to be true.

Here this where they mention it.

Rams trade Sam Bradford to Eagles for Nick Foles | Sporting News

NFL.com changed their article too. Now they list the trade as:

"The Eagles announced Tuesday that they have agreed to trade quarterback Nick Foles, a fourth-round draft pick in 2015 and a second-round pick in 2016 to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for quarterback Sam Bradford and the Rams' fifth-round pick in 2015.

In addition, NFL Media's Albert Breer reports the Eagles will receive a fourth-round pick in 2016 if Bradford doesn't start eight games; they will get a third-rounder if he is re-injured."

That is a TERRIBLE trade if there is no swapping of first rounders. I'm surprised that at this point Bradford even has more value than Foles to be honest.

I have a hunch that there is more to this Bradford for Foles swap.

Eagles posted a huge article on their website about why Bradford is so great so we may actually be fucking keeping him

Revis back to the Jets

Not thrilled to lose him, but that was a lot of cash he was asking for. Don't blame him for leaving and I can't blame Belichick for not matching the Jets offer.

Pats have decent young CB talent, and have Solder, Hightower, Chandler Jones, Gostowski as free agent after next season. Plus Jamie Collins the season after. Gostowski is easier to replace, but the other 4 are too good and too young to sacrifice for a CB who will be 30 next year (even though Revis is obviously a stud).

Unfortunately they also let Browner go as they're most likely going to be running much more zone next year without Revis, and Browner would be out of place there. Sucks to lose two stud CBs, but I'm just assuming Belichick has a plan like always.

You spilled the Kool Aid all over yourself. That was not a lot of guaranteed cash to land him. They screwed this up plain and simple. All of the guys you mention as next years free agents are replaceable, Gronk being the least replaceable. Revis is among the best in the game and caused teams to look elsewhere. He made others around him better. Paaying him $40M guaranteed over 3 is not a reach. They will regret this decision. I wonder now if they brng Vince back on a new deal.

And before you say you're a Steelers fan, know that I am also a Pats fan and I'm very disappointed about this move.

I just don't get letting Revis and Browner go. And was it really that much $. I thought there was a team option declined on both that made them FA's

Eagles sign former Seahawk and Giant CB Walter Thurmond who probably not coincidentally went to Oregon. Low risk fairly high reward as I assume we'll only give him a couple million this year.

Revis was due $20M next year if Pats kept him. I think they did the right thing by releasing and trying to resign. However, the Jets were willing to pay a ton more, which Pats probably should have saw/did see coming. So yes, they essential let him go.

As for Browner, can't speak on. You would think they would have kept one of their starting corners. As much as I dislike the Pats, they most likely have a solid plan in place.

Hahah probably, I just refuse to second-guess Belichick on anything. He always has a plan.
