Big media mock bracket that they do every year. Like many have posted in this thread, the OOC schedule will probably knock us down one seed further than most expect.

Almost pointless to make one now. It'll completely change when the conference tourney's start.

I'd rather lose a couple of regular season games, even if it means a lower seed, and give our guys fresh legs for the tourney run. Has Brey ever had a season where he had more then a 7 man rotation?

Former Point Guard Tory Jackson Talks Notre Dame Hoops

One of my favorite ND athletes - I figured you guys would like this. Also interesting that he isn't a fan of Brey's 7-man rotation either.

Tory Jackson is awesome. Great insight, well worth the read. Find it ironic he picks on the 7 man rotation since he probably averaged close to 40 minutes a game over his 4 years. Granted we definitely have more depth than we did then, especially with multiple ball handlers. He was the only one who could bring it up the floor reliably during his 4 years.

Definitely. During those 4 years, you couldn't blame Brey as much for his 7-man rotation. Our athletes were pretty unathletic, as Tory admits, and the bench was even worse. The only gripe I had was that Brey refused to play Carleton Scott until his junior year, even though he clearly was the most athletic guy on the team. But Tory was a very solid PG and a great guy too - Harangody was great and McAlarney could shoot the lights out, but like you said, we needed Tory to bring the ball up and facilitate.

Pitt blowing out 12 UNC. Glad this team gets the weekend off to recharge it's batteries and make a run. I think by the acc tourney will finish in the top 3 of the conference

The Pitt win is huge for us. First off, it makes our loss to them look much more respectable, and now Pitt has a solid chance of getting off the bubble. Also, this nearly guarantees that we will finish above UNC the final ACC standings. We have a 1-game lead on them now to go along with the tiebreaker and the easier remaining schedule. UVA, ND, Duke, Louisville, and UNC are locked in as the top-5 ACC seeds, and a top-3 finish would be huge for us having an easy path to the ACC semis. It would take something crazy for UNC to finish ahead of us now.

Oh, and Michigan State just had a huge win over OSU. Great Saturday so far for ND.

+1
As long as we go 4-1 down the stretch, I see us being in the top 3 as I don't see duke or Louisville going undefeated the rest of the way

A 3-1 finish now guarantees us a bye. As UNC and Duke play twice, at least one of them will be guaranteed to have five or more losses

We play 5 games, not 4. 4-1 doesn't guarantee us a bye I don't think. We could finish with same record as Duke and Louisville and end up in 4th.

Louisville lost at home to NC State 74-65. Huge for ND's ACC Tourney seed.

And, once again, another reason never to complain about a close win...especially one on the road against Clemson.

Yea can we cut our boys a break now for coming back at Pitt only to lose on a runner and "needing a miracle" to win at NC State? UNC couldn't come back when Pitt did the same thing to them to even make it a game, and NC State just took it to Louisville on the road.

We got three games in 7 days starting Tuesday, two of them being at home, and if we manage to win all 3 we will be in great shape heading into March. This certainly can be a special team

Could be sitting up a game and a half all alone in second place within the hour. With the easiest part of our slate coming up

Has anyone ever gone of teamranking.com. I just glanced at it and it basically gives you a breakdown of what percentage we have to make each round and what percent we have to make a certain seed.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish: Results, Picks, Power Rankings, Odds & Stats on TeamRankings.com

Never been until now, but as a stats-dork, I love it. I'd take a 3-seed right now in a heartbeat. Such a massive difference betwen a #3 and a #4. We should be ranked #9 today when the polls come out, but those computer numbers we have are weak.

I think it will take a 4-1 finish and a trip to ACC Semis for us to get a #3 seed. Or a 5-0 finish should hopefully lock it up. I just really hope we don't get punished a seed for that OOC schedule.

I was surprised Doherty didn't have a winning season though....

I'd be willing to bet that if you put Doherty under a lie detector, he'd admit that he shouldn't have left ND when he did. I can't fault him for taking the gig at his alma mater, but the timing seemed horrible for all parties involved. I heard him in an interview after Coach Smith's death. He said he called Coach Smith for advice on handling the inevitable overtures from Kansas once Roy Williams took the UNC gig. As we all remember, Williams declined his "dream job" and the next call was to Doherty. Smith let it be known that if Doherty would've turned down the UNC job that they would go outside the UNC family. I think Jordan was one of his ex-teammates that called to relay that info. I imagine Doherty was under immense pressure. Too bad it didn't work out for him. He didn't do that bad considering Gutheridge left the cupboard bare for uNC standards. Didn't Doherty get some flak for being to rough on his players at UNC?

I feel like with Nova surviving a couple of tough tests, along with Arizona, Wisconsin and Kansas all winning a pair, our chance at a 2 seed is dwindling. With everyone losing behind us, our chance to stay above a 4 is getting stronger by the day.

As great as this season has been, the MO under Brey has been to lose in the first round of the Tourney...even when they're projected to go deeper. The further away we get from the Digger Phelps era, the more I realize it was better than I gave Phelps credit for. Digger got ND to the Tourney when there were only 32 teams invited.

Thats what im worried about taht their gonna drop us a seed which we would deserve but just cause of the OOC we get dropped a seed. I think we have proven that we can play with the big boys. Have to win the games we are suppose to the rest of the way. At lousiville is gonna be a great game and we always play them well. Thats a toss up game but if we can shot and play a little defense then i think we come out of that game a winner and a 2 or 3 seed in the acc tourney. Like you said if we just win one game in the acc tourney then i think we can lock up a 3 seed. Most likely would play duke in the semis and that would be a major win if we could actually win that game.
